I know with the old Yamaha Zuma's derestricting them was as simple as cutting the right wire under the seat. Id imagine something similar would hold true for new scooters. Have you tried google?

Some scooters have a restrictor plate on the variator and exhaust restrictions also , so as said before ask the dealer or try some of the forums in the UK they are scooter mad there .

Its a Vmoto which is WA based company, so I doubt that they will have them over in the UK.
From what i've read, the restriction is to do with weights on the belt, but im not very mechanical, so i don't really know what that means!
I'd just like an extra 5-10km to keep up with traffic.
Google hasn't been very helpful either. I will see what the dealer suggests when I pick it up, I might wait until the first service to get it done.

I went googling for scooter tuning info a year or so ago and managed to turn up the choice little gem that there are only a couple of basic engine designs used in the Asian scooters. I seem to remember that one is a knock off of the Italian Minarelli lump and the other I forget.
Anyway, this suggests to me that deristriction techniques will be fairly standard. In fact, I seem to remember finding what amounted to step by step instructions for all the common designs. However, I then realised how uninterested I was in scooters and promptly forgot it all. I daresay it's still out there though, if you go looking.
Just be aware that a deristricted scooter is no longer classed as a moped which opens up a whole messy can of compliance and licensing worms, so do beware of the legal implications.

mind you any modification will most likely void any warranty.
what scooter did you buy?

The weights and belt you are thinking of is on the transmission, CVT or Constant Variable transmissions are what you find in scoot's, I haven't come across weights, but from what i understand you can change the size of the pulleys to offer more range, I have no idea where you would find these parts though .
More info from Continuously Variable Transmissions *look at variable diameter pulleys* also How CVT works *Here*
also a quote from HERE!

Hi Alex
The Monza isn't restricted per se (ie there are no official devices added by the manufacturer to slow it down) so you will find that out-of-the-box, they go better than many 50cc scooters on the market. If you want them to go faster then you'll need to modify it (ie exhaust, rejet etc). But remember that doing this will void your warranty - and is, of course, at your own risk from an owners legal perspective...
Cheers

It has been a while since I opened a centrifugal clutch up, but from some of the older 2 stroke kiddy race bikes such as LEM 50's and such, you could drill the clutch weights out, or replace them with lighter ones, to make them engage at a higher rev range, effectively acting like a high stall on an auto transmission in a car.
Won't make it quicker but will make it take off like a rocket
EDIT: Also look at rejetting the carby, decent air cleaner, decent scooter pipe etc (try some places in the uk, you should be able to email them for specs and find stuff pretty close to yours), even try matching the inlet and exhaust ports and maybe a gasflow, all costs $$$ but if it is what you want and don't want to wait for an upgrade, it may be an avenue to look down

i helped james fit a carbon look sports pipe to his 'bug' scooter and we found that after fitting it there was not much improvment at all. so we pulled it back off to inspect a washer that i thought would be the culprit.
so we bashed the washer out of the header and it improved it mutchly, able to do wheelies i think. (tug-ups) and i think james telling me it was able to do 80 -90.

On the hyo scoots there is a spacer in the clutch that stops it closing to stop the top end speed, you need to remove this then the restrictor washer in the intake manifold and rejet and then they are ment to do about 80ish(need to cut the rev limiter wire too)

And in MOD! no less!!!
WATT do you mean, ??? Are there parts on the bike that are called components that are welded together or bolted together?
Are the wires as one component soldered together or connected together is think >>> Is my seal beam soldered I have to cut the glass to stop the limiter from working or do I simply disconnect said wire?
I am going to Mechanics 101 out my ass till you get it right and it is not my fault you do not see the connection of all the puns intended is how else do I say it without insulting one is I cannot help how simple an ass you are reading is the Enveloper has spoken the, 3 wire Variable.
Name them off is I told you out of 33 passwords is kill the teacher is me can nicks one oh one. LOL
