    Hi all
I did the stupidest thing and left my disc lock whilst starting to move. I didnt move very far at all and did not drop the bike (thankfully going that slow). There does not appear to be even the slightest mark on the either the disc or the calliper. Its braking seems just as good as before. THe only thing I noticed is a slight noise the first time I brake when starting up however it is quite wet so that me be the cause, I dont tend to pay attention to noises until I think something is wrong then I can pay too much attention if u get the drift. Once the second braking is applied can hear absolutely no noise whatsoever.
Should I take it down to the mechanic?
Is it urgent to take it to the mechanic or can I take it down next weekend if people advise me to take it to a mechanic?
Sorry for the endless paranoid questions
    Peter

if you dont know what you are looking at.......take it to someone who does

be that a mechanic or someone off here who knows what they are looking at

just ask you may find a volunteer as there are many good people on here that help others who ask and are grateful

As I recall, Gustav did the same thing, left the disk lock on his ZX6. It ended up leaving a VERY slight buckle in the disk that was only noticeable upon braking...

He was looking at replacing the disk before leaving for the army.

    Dunno if it got done....

Yea get it looked at .... to begin with get a straight edge (steel rule) and hold it to the side of the friction part of the disk and see if you can see a warp .

Go to your local bike shop , and buy a flouro yellow lanyard that you put from the lock to the bars ..... it will never happen again , and it will scream to the people you use it the most for ... its got a lock on it .

Did that and does not appear to have any buckle at all. Also rode tonight and the noise is non existent must be from water on the brakes. I will go to bike shop as soon as I can and get one of those yellow cables.
    Cheers

You may not notice a very slight warp in either the disc or the rotor (I hope I have my terminology right here) simply by spinning the wheel with something up against it and you may need calipers to pick it up. Even the slightest warp in either of these will be noticable on braking - I should know I've had a look myself and can't see a warp but can sure as hell notice it on braking. Don't just go out and get discs as it may be the rotors and not the disc that is bent.
