I'm about to pop a deposit on my first ride - CBR250r - and I wanted to spray the exhaust matt black (c'mon Honda you should have done this!).

I'll use the VHT Flameproof rattle can as recommended above. I was wondering that since it's brand new will I still have to sand it back or can I get away with just spraying over the top. Excuse any N00bness, I know nothing about two wheeled horseless carriages...
*Edit* Would removing pipe void my warranty?

Are you thinking of spraying the can, or the full system (headers included)?
If its just the Can your doing, Honda have a carbon cover that goes over the top.
Not sure how much they are, but you could ask them to throw one in, when you put your order in?

Thanks Dirty. If the "can" is just the silver part of the exhaust as shown in the photo above (ie partially obscuring the rear wheel) then yes...
The reason I asked is that I saw a 2nd hand black model on Gumtree last week; its exhaust was black and I thought it was a bit of an improvement. I assume the seller had it painted - maybe they actually had the carbon cover you mention on it.
I'll see if I can find the cover online...

found it on the Honda Australia Catalogue Site. Just what I'm chasing. I'll try to get the dealer to chuck one in. Cheers.

Thats the one mate...
Im sure it wont cost that much and I have seen them on some of the black CBR's at Honda dealers, so im sure they would be willing to toss one in to get a deal.
Let us know how ya go!

I use CiC coatings on my uni motorsport project cars (Open wheeled racecar that uses 600RR engine, custom exhust) and I cannot reccomend them enough, great guys to deal with, always looking for new better coatings.
quick tip that I only learnt recently was if you have fingerprints on the headers/oil marks etc a quick wipe with crc or similar brings up the original sheen, gets rid of the marks.
Also the aluminium look coating turns matte if you exceed the melting point of the aly in the coating (so dont use it to test how lean you can get you engine or on dyno etc)
