    Factory pro shift star

Has anyone changed there stock shift star to a factory pro one on a 2006 zx10?
i had a mechanic come try to do it but he said it was a huge job too do.. remove sump remove circlip from the fork shifting rod from inside the engine/gearbox just too change the star.
reading factory pros website everything is done from the outside of the engine. 1 to 2 hours work. i wouldnt have bought it if they had explained this on the web..
it looks like they use the 2005 zx10 model in the pics???
    would appreciate any help.

there you go.. i couldnt find that page only the one where you purchase the actual product. there it has no mention of removing sump or circlip.. i should have looked harder.
the mechanic didnt really want to remove the sump and circlip as he was afraid he might loose it in there somewhere. also wasn't too sure how and if he could get it back in.
    well you learn from mistakes
    thanks

Just received an email from marc at factory pro saying that we have never had to pull the sump on the 06 and that we have installed more than a few locally.
try removing left side of shifter then twisting the shaft out of the way
    ?????????????????????????????
    makes no sense too me
i think you are right with removing the sump and exhaust

    Hi,

I had one installed on my gen 3 and never needed to remove the sump. Just the clutch cover, clutch basket and shift shaft as shown. Looking at the pictures it looks very similar to my bike. If you need someone to do it or give you a hand, go and see Neil who is Pro Flow Motorcycle Improvements. He has a workshop out the back of motorcycle masters in kewdale.

I've had 2 quotes to get the job done, works out cheaper to buy a bike lift and do the job myself

As andrew said...Neil is also a Kawasaki nut. His drag bike is a ZX10.
