    Question fork oil on tyre/rotors/pads

I tried searching. Sorry if it's been covered before...
I've bought two old ZX10's and I'm in the process of getting them both up and running. A lot of parts have been ordered and they're looking to shape up quite nicely.

On both of them however the fork seals are knackered. I've ordered two dust/oil kits for them from over east. The oil however has dripped down through the entire brake assembly and rotors as well as the tyres themselves on each machine.

One set of rotors needs replacing anyway, but the other set on the other bike has plenty of life left.
Question is can I keep those rotors? I'm not sure of the condition of the pads, but would it be wise to replace them anyway if I'm pulling the forks apart? A few of the little rubber boots on the calipers themselves are shot also. They would need to be replaced before going over the pits, right?
And finally the oil has covered parts of the tyres. The bikes have been sitting for many years. Can they be cleaned, or should I just man up and not be a cheapskate considering they're the tyres I steer with ?

    Thanks muchly

I wouldn't risk it, new tyres and pads at the least. Rotor should clean up ok
not everyone wants to pickup trash from the side of the road, leave it for the crims and the junkies.

Clean the brakes with some brake cleaner from Malz/ Repco/ Supershit.
Pads aren't that expensive. It would be worth doing for piece of mind if nothing else.

If the tyres have been sitting for "many years" I would replace them regardless.

Done stuff like oil, coolant etc?

Yeah that's what I suspected. I've removed the radiators and oil coolers from both of them. One of the radiators has been reconditioned and is great, the other is a little messed up but nothing a long night and small screwdriver can't fix. So yeah, oil and coolant along with filters and o-rings will all be replaced. Both bikes run it's just lots of little jobs to get everything the way I want.

Any particular pads better than others? Same for rotors? Also, the little rubber boots on the calipers... Will they be a dealership thing or do you think I should go to a wrecker?

I'll get everything sorted and put new tyres on them once they're ready for the pits. I think I just needed some wiser people to tell me 'no.' So thanks

Had same problem when my seals went. New pads, clean the rotor up & de-glaze it with a bit of sand paper. Should be enough to throw you over the bars
Not sure about the tyres, guess it depends on how much it's penetrated & the amouny of it. When it heats up that oil will surface. New rubber couldn't hurt

New brake pads, hit the rotors and calipers with brake cleaner. Tyre will be fine - if you're really nervous hit it with some truck wash or other heavy detergent then let it dry.

Watch what lines you throw out, someone out there will be silly/inexperienced enough to take a bite.

Yeah, for shame. (thinks back to how the "watch out for the alternator spacer bush that always falls out into the sump when you blah blah blah" giggle nearly backfired big time because someone, somewhere, once took me seriously) ops:

Thanks! I will look them up and see what they have. Yeah I will go over everything thoroughly when it comes time to clean/replace.
They're an 88' and 90' Ninja ZX10. Think they're also known as the Tomcat overseas. They're nice bikes... can't wait to get them all finished!
