    front sprocket removal

Ok a need a little technical knowhow on how to remove the front sprocket nut of my 99 r6. Essentially the chain and rear sprocket have been removed, and the front sprocket is still in place (im starting to realise this was a bad order of removal).

Issue is, when i go to loosen the front sprocket nut, it just cranks the engine over (when in gear). If i had left the chain etc in place first, i could of just wedged the chain and rear sprocket in place, seizing the drive train, and allowing removal of the front sprocket.

i digress, can someone advise a method on how to remove the nut, given that the chain and rear sprocket are now gone, and cannot be used in the process.

    cheers
    James

in 1st. rattlegun. fingers crossed you don't fuck your tranny.

OR get hold of a chain and rear sprocket, throw them back on and use the... back brake

a good battery powered one is about 600. then u gotta buy a set of 6 point sockets.
Air powered is cheaper if you have a compressor already

Pop the rear sprocket on, wrap the chain around it, wrap it around the front sprocket then stand on the brake and undo.
You shouldn't need a looped chain for it to work.
