    Genuine service or not????

    Hey guys,

My Gixxer has just come out of it's 2 years warranty and due for it's next service. I'v been happy with McCulloch Suzuki in Vic Park but just seeing what others have done once there bike has got to this stage such as, service it themselves and take it into the dealer just to get the electronics done, or taken it to a private workshop or just stick with the dealer all together u trust

Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Not.

    No advantage to dealer servicing.

Same thing I do when the bike is in warranty, take it to the person I trust most to do the best job at the best price (note: not necessarily cheapest).
We are small and exposed, and probably moving too fast for our own good, but that's no reason not to enjoy every minute of the ride.

unless you're finding yourself short on cash or unhappy with the service then stick with what you know, there are only two shops i trust with my bikes and i won't mess around finding someone else.

i do most of my servicing myself but still get a shop service and inspection once a year to make sure there is nothing i've missed, i don't see the point in the extra expense for an oil change every 2 or 3000kms but for a 10000 or 20000 checkup it's worth the extra for peace of mind and i hate working on bikes when i could be out riding one of the others
Do you remember the good old days before the internet?

when arguments were only entered into by the physically or intellectually able.

Yer happy with the work the guys do with my bike. Obvious i could save money by doing my own oil changes but for the little extra cost it allows me more time riding and less time working on it

Seriously dude, it takes about 5 minutes to change oil and filter. Learn to do it yourself and become one with your motorcycle

I get Derrick Ball to come out and do the main servicing every 10,000 and I do a minor one every 5,000. It's good to work on your own bike, get to know it a little and save a bit of money too.

Do it yourself...Purchase the manufacturers guide or download it if its available (the gixxer manual is able to be downloaded). That way you can go the job exactly as the manufacturer specifies with the correct torques settings etc etc..

Take your time to know your bike and you'll most likely do a better and more thorough job than the shops (never know what the "know it all 16 year old" in the back workshops doing to your bike). You save a fair bit of coin this way and know exactly what workmanship and care has been placed in your pride and joy!

NO WAY WITH YAMAHA AUSTRALIA I was on my two wheels in western Sydney when the mechanic had to lie so Yamaha Australia didn't have to replace my warped discs with 5k on the clock. Had my bike for months and it cost hundreds to get my bike back broken. Office of fair trading BS. Find someone trusted and stick with them. Graham in Tempe for me. I have no affiliation with Graham.
