    GPX 250 help.

Hey guys, I just tried to start my 2004 GPX 250 to come home from work and it wouldnt start, when i pressed the starter the dash lights would dim but nothing would happen. thinking a flat battery I got a push start from a mate and the bike started but was very rough and showed 8000 rpm at just above idle and is unrideable. I got a lift home from work but have no idea what could be wrong.

Has anyone had a problem like this or have any ideas what it could be? I am thinking it might be an electrical problem?

The bike hasn't had fuel put in it for about 2 months and sat around for 5 weeks over christmas. It has been ridden about 25kms to work and back once yesterday and then to work again today and it was fine.

    Thanks in advance, Knight Rider

Athe tachometer indication with the lack of battery power sounds a bit like regulator rectifier to me.
It's better to be thought stupid than open your mouth and remove all doubt

Pure speed in sixth gear on a 5,000 foot straightaway is one thing, but pure speed in third gear on a gravel-strewn, downhill, ess turn is quite another.

Thanks guys all sorted, the battery was dead. I thought it was something more serious because of the tachometer thing but lesson learned, start simple first.

I have a battery from a ct110 in at the moment it has 1/2 the a/h but seems to be working fine, I will have to see how it goes in the winter when it needs a bit more cranking to start.
