    GPX250 shock help!

Hey guys, any idea how I can get my 2006 GPX to feel less soft in the forks and shocks?. I am a new rider and I hope I dont sound out of line when I think they should be firmer. Is it a case of getting a replacement shock? or a refit? I have no idea any help would be welcome, to make my ride all the sweeter

Before you do anything go and put a zip tie around the front fork tube as well as one around shock shaft. Then tell us how much travel you are using in daily riding.

Depending on your weight it could be as simple as an adjustment.

    PM Marty Moose

He can setup your suspension, do spring changes valving etc

    For a 250 I wouldn't worry about replacement shock.

i have zzr250 shock and forks u can have very cheap if need be. the rear shock has something like 5 settings on these. u can take the load of the back with the center stand and turn it to the tallest stopper to make it the firmest. but you should know that if your more then 70kg your not going to get much improvements on the stock setup and its not worth it to put other stuff in there due to costs of modifying the swing arm and all that.

Pretty sure they race them is Asia get on the net and have a look. The std set up is very soft front and rear most people just do the best with what they have and save for their larger bike. The shock not much you can do preload only from memory the forks make new spacers and add oil is the cheap way out.

its stuck in the frame atm , need to get an impact wrench onto it and ill let you know. there are people out there that put ex500 shocks on theres but it requires modding and in the end its not worth it. i managed the fasted lap on my old zzr250 at a private track against zxr250's ninja250r's cbr250r vtr250 . its something you get used to it will move around alot but if your on the ball its ok.

Ok. To reply to the question about suspension travel it's 4" ( just over 10cm) on the forks.. Pretty much the same on the shock . What does that mean? I don't know. There is only a out 2inch if fork travel left after that

With the preload set neutral you should be using about 75% of your travel when riding.

Thanks for the education guys.. The general feeling among the majority of riders is "suck it up for another 9 months and save for the bigger newer bike" if I don't drop the mic between now and then that's what I will probably do

    No.

Just leave the tyre pressure as the manufacturer (who spends millions in R&D) says it should be.
