GPX250 stator issues - Help!
Hey,
I got a GPX 250 2000 model, done about 31k on the clock. a week ago my battery died, so I put it on charge overnight and it charged fine and held charge, put it back in the bike went for a ride and re checked the battery and it was 25% depleted. I took the bike to battery world where I purchased a new battery 6 months ago and they said it was the alternator. I supidly took this advice and went to two wheel wreckers and got a second hand stator. I swapped the stator over with the second hand one and started the bike and still the battery is not charging. I think it is generating enough charge to run as I can ride it with many starts over 2 days but then need to manually charge me battery.
I have a multi meter which I put over the battery and while running it sits on 12.5v, with the highbeam and indicator on its 12.2v after turning them off it goes back up to 12.5v.
I have checked all fuses in the fuse panel and also the main 30a fuse and they are all fine.
any ideas on what is wrong with it would be great?
I can't imagine both stators are faulty?
Thanks in advance.

That's not good...a bit unlikely that the stators are both faulty...?
Check the connections ( plug) at the regulator ..and 'search' charging problems ...will be some great advise on here .. as you're not the only one to have this sort of problem .....good luck!

no good . who changed stator's ? .

the readings show your battery is not charging, it is unlikely that the regulator would fail or the stator i reckon you should check the continuaty of the yellow wires from the stator to the reg/rect. it might be as simple as a bad conection.

I changed the Stator myself, it wasn't the smartest move as I had no idea what I was doing but it went back together okay.
Ah, yep ill trace them wires tonight and look for bad coneections / corrosion I hope it is that simple as I really dont want to have to change the stator again lol.
I searched the forum and found a post from a guy who had a trouble shooting guide, only problem is the link is dead so no guide.

Okay, well turns out the regulator was fried. Lesson learnt next time just take to the shop.
