I'm pulling my carbs tonight to try and find out why my 92 1100 is running doggy down low.

It won't idle properly and runs rough on a light throttle but cleans up and pulls okay when you open it up a little.
At first I thought I might drop the needles but I don't think needles come into play until larger throttle openings.

It's obviously running very rich and is fouling plugs.

For now I'm thinking I might just try the float heights.
Does anyone know what they are supposed to be ?

I will have the carbs upside down on the bench, i believe I'm suposed to measure them from the gasket surface to the top of the float, but is this with the float tang just touching the float valve or pushing the valve closed ?

adding to the complication is that the carbs are now presurised for the turbo application but I think normal tuning rules still apply.
i did try backing the fuel pressure off a little but to no effect.

If they havent been apart for a while, drain the bowls, but your probably past that stage.

The needle seats, if they are the coated type (name escapes me at the moment), could be perished. This is a classic Honda thing. Fuel pisses in when its not sposed to,causing rough idle and rough off the bottom, and the wet plugs your describing.

The carbs went to the UK for modification for turbo use so all should be clean and i would hope they checked all those things at the same time and the bike's only been on the road for fifty odd k's since then.

But, you never know do you?
I will certainly check the needles for worn sealing material.
With the carbs being fed by a fuel pump, this would make the problem even worse if that was it.

Me being the lazy prick I am, didn't strip them down after i got them back to check them out.
    So it's worth a look.
