nope, ive never burnt a clutch out.. although my R1 has 50000km on it now and i am figuring to ask derek ball to give it a 50000km major look over which includes a clutch rebuild.. preventative maintenance + i figure the amount it costs to have someone do it compared to the amount i spend on tyres and fuel and all the other consumables.. clutch is a pretty minor expense.

You only need to replace the clutch if the plate pack is out of spec or the fibres are glazed. The inner and outer basket may have wear marks where the fibres or steels hit, but replace because the manual says so... i don't think so.
Haven't you pulled it done yet Bunny?

OK, got everything out today. the first few steel plates were fine but the remaining appear to have burn marks on them. heres some pics.
^^^The markings on the steel plate in the top right are from the cluthc ring that holds the last fibre and steel plate in.
Should there be more meat on the fibre plates?? From what I can see, the plates do ont appear to be warped.
Can anyone diagnose??? plz?

All the plates are intact?
Those steels look fucked!
Any metal stuck between the plates when you pulled it apart?
Picture of hub and basket too please.

The tabs on the hub of the clutch basket looks a tad mangled.
I was so focused on the plates i didnt notice the basket. pics uploading atm

Those plates don't look like they have a whole heap of meat left on them mate, might be worth changing them while you have it apart.
Also, with your steels, lay them on a sheet of glass and eyeball them up just to make sure that they really are flat.
EDIT: Just out of interest, how's they oil?
If you can filter it through a pair of your old stockings, I wouldn't mind seeing if there are any particles in there.

Clutch actually looks like any R1 clutch where the owner clutches it up often. new steels and fibres and it will be all good.
*unless the basket is fucked, but then you would have noticed that pulling the plates out*

EDIT:^^^ Never having seen a well used R1 clutch, I wouldn't know. But I don't think it's a rider issue.

This is a mechanical thing, not an abuse thing.

Nope, that's a standard lock washer, it fits over a keyway on your input shaft that stops the washer tuning, then you fold the washer over the nut to stop it coming loose.
Basket looks ok (from what I can see) and the hub looks unabused.
New plates and steels buddy.
EDIT: Beaten by the UberMOD.

wait........ for some reason i though that the mangle tab would case a problem with the plates. they dont go anywhere near each other....
the tab that is bent up towards the nut in that picture...... that would case any significant problem would it??? The pull rod doesnt go anywhere near it.
