    hi guys...

i was just wondering if anyone would be able to help me fix my bike on saturday morning???

i will pay $$$$! i just really need my bike fixed by monday.

there's nothing really wrong with it i think except maybe the fuel system is blocked and maybe a few blown fuses...

but i have no idea whats going on with my bike as i've only had it for about 2 weeks.

my bike is a CBR250R. if anyone can help please let me know.

someone told me there is someone on here who comes out and helps people with their bike...

    cheers

    tried changing the spark plugs?
If you have only been starting it up and letting it idle for a bit and turning it off you may have fouled the plugs.

Agree with the others... need a bit more info dude.

Does the battery still have charge? (ie. when you turn the key on do all the dash lights still come on) If they do, what happens when you hit the starter button? Does it turn over and just not start? Or does it not even turn over?

If the battery is flat have you tried push starting it? Just have the key set to on, sit on the bike and push it along and dump it in 2nd gear.

    ok here'a what i've tried...

Charged Battery - Yes, all the lights are coming on brightly.

Push Start - Yes have tried that, didn't work.

    What is happening:

I turn the ignition key to on, all the lights come on, neutral light, headlights etc all working fine...

i push the start button and it just makes a CLICK noise...

its not kicking over or anything. there is no other noise than one initial click that is made when i press the start button.

Thanks for the replys so far...

    I'm in Joondalup

When you said the engine died while you were riding it the back wheel didnt lock up though right? It just died and you coasted to a stop?

EDIT: For your starter to just go "click" and nothing else, it would either be a) Not enough battery power... b.) starter motor is rooted or c) top end is seized solid

The fact that you have charged the battery rules our a)
The fact that you cant push start it kind of rules out b.)
The fact that your rear wheel (supposedly) didnt lock up rules out c)

So basically.... wouldnt have a frieking clue sorry

What happens when you try to push start it? You dump it in 2nd and what happens? Does the engine just turn over and not fire?

EDIT #2: If ya want I can probably come over and have a looksie at it since Im on my days off at the moment. I aint no professional bike mechanic but Im relatively handy with a spanner

Not the good old side stand switch again is it????

i wasn't riding when it stopped...

it was just parked in my garage and it wouldnt start one day and all this sh*t started happening!!

i think at first it might have been flat battery and then me flooding it... but now i'm thinking it may be summin a little more serious than that!!

    wheels definately aren't locking up.

when i try push start it its like trying to push a bike in gear... it almost starts up but doesn't... i might give it another try tonight!!

if you could come have a look that would be awesome!!

i really have no clue as to what this kinda sh*t entails.

    saturday morning good? or tonight??

I dont mean to state the obvious... but it isn't the kill switch or side stand switch by any chance? The kill switch definitely fits the symptoms...

Some bikes wont let you start the bike unless the sidestand is up (most actually have it so you cant have it running & in gear but Im pretty sure some bikes wont even let you start it). Basically its a safety feature to prevent people riding away with the sidestand down.

Have you tried starting it with the sidestand up (I'm guessing you have since you have tried push starting it already)? There may be crap built up around the switch which is preventing it from closing fully...

I doubt you have blown anything dude. Might just be completely flooded still. Although the fact the starter motor doesnt turn over doesnt sound to good. I'm not sure if that would even have a fuse though...

You should be able to pushstart it though regardless of the starter motor/battery condition... Hard to say anything else without having a look at it.

When it first happened. What actually happened? You went outside to start it...
Was it turning over and just not firing hence you kept at it but ending up running the battery down? Or did it just do that "click" right from the start?

    yeh what you said...

it was turning over until i ran the battery flat.

and then we tried a different battery and it was still just turning over.

and then we tried a different battery again and it just made the click.

maybe the battery is just very very dead!?!

I reckon you flooded it mate and the battery is just toast now. Either that or you have cooked the starter motor from cranking on it so much

When they flood they can be pricks of things to get going again (I know a ZXR250 is anyway). Not sure if you can turn the fuel tap off altogether on one of them but if you can turn it off and have it wide open throttle while you crank it if you think its flooded. Whack the choke on full also. Failing that leave it for a few hours should also do the trick...

Google tells me the cbr250r has a fuel pump, while the cbr250rr just has a vacuum feed. Yours is just a 250r right?

EDIT: Google also tells me continous cranking/idling for long periods seems to foul the plugs on a cibby250 for some reason or another. How many km has ya bike done and when was it last serviced? Might be worth putting new spark plugs in it just for the hell of it. Might get an extra pooftinth horsepower out of it at the same time

What about the oil & filter? When was that last done? If we are going to take the fairings off we may as well do that at the same time if its due.

yep its just an R... so it has a fuel pump i guess haha

Bike has 30000km... was last serviced at 20000km.

i put some oil in it on the weekend... but that was all this shit started happening.

well we can leave the fairings off until we fix it up! no point putting them back on before she starts up.

I reckon we may as well change the plugs on it. Will give us an indication of how well the bikes running also. From what Ive read Im 90% sure you have fouled the plugs anyway so its most likely going to be problem.

Are you able to pick up 4 sparkplugs today at all? Should cost a whopping $4 or so each... Any bike shop or maybe even supercheap etc would have them.

Also what tools do you have at your joint dude? Should I bring my toolbox over? Might need a socket with extension to be able to get at the plugs... If you dont have em I will just bring the car over with tools rather then riding over.
