Help pls - Yamaha R1 Axles - what are they made from ????

    Gday All

I need to find out exactly what the axles on a 2004 - 2006 R1 are made from and if they are heat treated etc.

Ive been searching ut cant find any material data on them.

Does anyone know what they are made from please ?

    Cheers

Some say he eats sidchrome for breakfast

Some say he only showers on even days of the week

Some say he put an R1 motor in a coffee machine

All we know is he's Hewie.

sorry, not a helpfull post... why? are you making some?

if i had to guess id say something decent like 4140, but then again its probably closer to a high tensile bolt (grade 10.9 or so)

Edit: have a look in here, not exactly your info, but similar.

Metlabs should be able to tell you, or point you in the right direction.

I'm with paraletic.. some kind of high tensile, 4140 or 4340... doubt they'd be heat treated.
