Well basically I wanted to do something different... similar to the GSR headlight, but on the GSXR model.. I'm trying to work out how I can fit another type of front end on the headlight/stay area...not easy! Been searching forum / spec sheet after forum... was wondering if anyone here has the experience..

So not just changing to hid bulb? Changing nose cone would result in the fairings not sitting flush with the side panels etc.
Waste of money in my opinion

Edit: buy race nose cone, cut out headlight and get mounting points plastic welded then painted? Or mount headlight directly of the bikes frame?

Fitting HID's to a motorcycle? Welcome to Yellowstickerville. Population; you.

Not worth it. I've ridden with them and by christ, they're a pain in the ass. If anybody can explain the benefit of having a high-beam that takes time to warm up, leaving you momentarily in the dark at night, I'd love for you to convince me they're worth it.

I have dominator twin headlights with one light having a standard H4 hi/lo and the other light having a HID H4 modified by me to be high beam only.

Highly recommended if you are travelling on remote country roads at night. If you are a suburban rider, then don't annoy other road users.

Edit: I have seen some HID kits that are HID on low beam and Halogen on high. Designed to annoy people in my opinion.

I meant to get rid of mine ages ago. Fucking horrific for anyone in front of me at night.

Wish I'd do e it sooner. Got a yellow last week. Spent today returning entire bike to stock to hopefully pass pits on Monday. Fingers crossed.

My 2 bob don't bother, they'll end up costing you time and money. I just wish I'd high beamed the copper and whipped around him. That would have been the only time they'd been useful.

i have a HID projector on the bully and so far because i have it adjusted properly with the line of light just below the boot of a car 2 lengths in front of me i have found that i don't get flashed and nor do my fellow riders feel the need to tell me to stop riding with hi beams on.

I don't know if the HID bulb inside the stock reflector unit throws more light or the fact that they just aren't set up properly but it may help even if you have standard lighting.

Is your stock nose cone buggered? Why do you want to go with something different? Might be a cheaper way of doing it than mucking about with nose cone transplants.

I've had my HID's in my Bird since early 07 and haven't had an issue with cops and I've been past plenty and pulled over a few times for various reasons The HB only takes a few seconds to warm up when cold and if you are anywhere you need more light than the HID LB then you wont be turning them off very often
If you are "momentarily in the dark" when switching off the HB HID then you either are riding way too fast to be safe or you aren't running an HID LB
I use the HB all the time when riding to and from work in Wooroloo and even with the odd bit of traffic I flick them off and they come back on almost immediately when a cars passed by

Mine is just an HID globe in the std BB housing and the amount of extra light thrown forward and to the sides is incredible and since getting the adjustment correct I can't say I've had too many complaints about them or cars flashing me That and the fact they have saved my arse multiple times from not only animal encounters on country roads but from cars pulling out on me because they actually "saw" me and stopped

"If" I ever get a yellow for them I'll do what is required to get the bike passed and then refit them as I'd prefer being safe than being technically "legal"

Front end was written off yeah, thinking of something different as I'm not too keen on the chinese front ends and the OEM ones are pretty exxy, thought if I'm going to spend the money, should do something different!

My HID high beam is waaaaaayyyy brighter than the stock one, and takes 2-3 seconds to warm up. Only disadvantage of it is that I can't flash high beams at anyone but that's pretty insignificant. Had them for over 4 years and never had an issue from other riders or the police.

Mine were constantly going off in the cold wee ealry hours of the morning. Brilliant, unwanted stealth mode on Roe highway.

What's the go with people copping lickies for HID's?

As someone who has taken a decent look at the Act, it seems like moving to HID's is no less legal than changing your blinkers or rearsets, etc..

I got pulled over a year or so ago for speeding one night on the freeway and made the point of asking about the HID's and the exhaust, cop (was STO) didn't seem to give a shit. But maybe it was simply my charming personality...

Since changing your rearsets or blinkers to something not approved by ADR's or VSR's is also illegal then your research would be correct.....

It is no less legal nor no less illegal....

HID's require projector housings, self levelling facilities and a sprayer or wipers to keep the lens clean to meet ADR's
