Is anybody running one of these?

What sort of benefits are there of fitting one with only minor mods (say zorst, filter and dynojet kit)?

    Hard to fit?

I hear about 2 degrees is really all the adjustments you want to make.

Not a great deal... I put one in my 01 R1 (+4 deg.) with exhaust and filter, showed tiny (not even 1hp) difference on the dyno left it in anyway. never had any problems with fuel but was always cautious what I used in it. The bike was certainly more responsive afterwards but unfortunately I had the pipe and re-jet done at the same time so its hard to say what was the major contributor.

IMHO, not worth the money but if you get one cheap and it costs you fuck all to put in then its your call.. odds are you will not notice a huge difference.

Sorry to drag up an old thread <_<

So +4 degrees is not too much on a bike with only zorst, filter and jet kit?

One looks like it is going to go cheap is all, but it is +4 degrees so Im just checking that this is not too much.

Should be fine dude. The place Im about to buy a jet kit off reckons to use a +4 advancer also. Seems like +4 is what everyone uses so it must be okay

Just use Ultimate 98 in her and she should be right.

Factory Pro jet kit is it? Thats who makes the ignition advancer im looking into. I think 05R1Boy was looking at becoming the WA distributor for them: http://www.perthstreetbikes.com/psb/index....velocity+stacks, perhaps he can give you a quote?

I was considering another jet kit for mine since I got the full exhaust (I think they do a stage 2 kit), but I might just hold out until I manage to chase down some FCR flatslides as I think my carb set is in need of a rebuild, rather than just a jet kit.

Ive been looking at either the Factory kit or an Ivans Performance kit. Both seem to have very good reviews...

Whats happened to Zip Drive? He was known for doing more than a few mods:

BMC vs K&N, FactoryPro Velocity stacks & Ignition ad

and the beauty of them all:

    Laughing Gas

If he is still around, may be worth asking his opinion.

Optimal ignition curve on a modern sportbike engine is pretty good from the factory, i dont change mine, nor would i want to with the so/so fuel batches we get in Aus.

Also, keep in mind that optimal fine tuned ignition timing is a formula dependant on head CC and squish volume, comp ratio, fuel quality, intake temps and so forth. ie a race engine that is built for more static comp will benefit, otherwise your wasting money IMHO. AND last bt not least, its totally false to assume that engines work best under total engine advance, the powercure will rise and commonly fall sometimes without any detonation.

Saf - what if say we have a bike that is tuned for a minimum of 92 octane fuel and we use an ignition timing more suitable for 98 RON and only use that fuel?
