    Indicator Beepers?

Are they just a scooter thing? Do any real bikes have audible indicators???
I forget the indicators are 'on' every few corners .... even during 2 license tests ... have fitted brighter LEDs to the dash to help.
I know its possible to wire in beepers ... but I thought maybe I could fit a pair of those reversing beeper globes in the actual indicators.

mmm you will die pretty quick unless you fix that problem, get into the habit of cancelling the indicators while completing your turn, it MUST become automatic, it's not that hard, it's just one of those things that you need to do and be aware of when riding

I looked at some auto-cancelling indicator upgrades but by the time I decided which one was best I had gotten used to turning them off.

^ I often find myself doing this too.

A problem I see with having indicator beepers is that they will make it harder for you to learn to turn the indicators off by habit, meaning if you ride another bike without them, you may come unstuck.

The switch isn't the problem. Adjust your riding to suit.
Just take lefts one day, and rights another. It'll work itself out.

Perhaps leaving your thumb on the switch until you've turned the corner will help remind you to cancel.
It's uncomfortable and unnatural to have your hand in that position, so it should sink in pretty quick.

I used to be like you, forgetting the indicator on. But now it's just 'one of those things'. Sure every so often I catch myself out cancelling it but there are times when I simply don't remember cancelling the indicator, only to find out I did in fact cancel it.

It's like shifting gears on a bike or driving stick, just one of those things.

As above, I am now in the habit of tapping the cancel-indicator button about 10 seconds after every turn. Maybe not always necessary but I know I am a tad forgetful at times. I figure it is a good habit to get into anyway. Most embarrassing to leave your indicator on when on a PSB group ride!! To do it TWICE is reason enough to be sent to rear of the group.

Fix the rider rather than the bike.

Guess which one will carry over to the next bike you buy....
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

Pretty much what everyone else has said.

Or what you said; grab a tiny speaker which emits a tone when current passes through it. Strip the insulation from the wire leading to your indicators (lead cable, or both left and right), connect, solder and re-insulate where necessary. If you haven't shorted out your electrics, hey fucking presto!

Get a yellow-dot sticker (or something) else and stick it to your instrument cluster. Every time you see it, cancel your indicators. I didn't need the sticker, but I've gotten into the habit of clicking the cancel switch periodically and while it's probably not necessary, it means I never leave them on for more than 15 seconds or so if I forget.

Anyway fitted the reverse light/beepers tonight. One on a front indicator, the other on the oppisite rear - this gives 'left' and 'right' slightly different tones.
Agree with most of the above comments. I do keep my thumb on the indicator switch when turning, but I think its when something unusual happens coming out of the corner, and my focus changes .....
The beepers won't be a perfect solution ... for a start can't hear them above 4000rpm.
(I used to build kit cars, and the indicator switch was just a long toggle switch on the dashboard - although self-cancelling was not an ADR requirement, some DoT inspectors required buzzers ... looking back, the reverse globes would have been easier to fit.)

???? so what is the problem?? If your thumb is there turn it off!!!!

You only need the indicator on to indicate you are turning, once you have initiated the turn you don't need to be indicating, so turn it off!! It should be off before you 'come' out of a corner.
