My understanding of this mod is that it's only to vent the crankcase to atmosphere. I can't imagine it does much. or why people do it at all.

it's not like the free 10hp youll get from the jumper mod which I don't think affects AUS models anyway.

If you don't know the benefits, then why do you want to do it?

Ok, a few minutes on Google seems to tell me it's a mod for stunt guys, that routes the crankcase breather tube into the exhaust rather than the airbox, so that oil coming from the crankcase during long wheelies won't go back into your throttle bodies and hydrolock your engine

Ok, free mechanical lesson from Bendito

It's seems there are two things that are referred to as the "Kleen Air Mod" and that video seems to cover both in one go. Removing the PAIR Valve (or Smog Valve) and re-routing the crankcase breather.

First up, modern bike engines have a PAIR Valve, which injects clean air into the exhaust just after the exhaust valves, to help burn any unburnt fuel, and to dilute the exhaust gases a little. This is done so they can pass emissions testing
See here for more: Pair Valve

Secondly, while the engine is operating, a small amount of the fuel/air mixture (known as blow-by) can make it past the piston rings on the compression stroke, and into the crankcase. Too much of this can build up pressure, which is a bad thing, as extra pressure under the pistons makes it harder for them to go down, meaning you will lose power. The crankcase breather relieves this pressure. The breather used to just vent straight to the atmosphere, but this is bad for the environment. Instead, the breather vents back into the airbox, so the unburnt fuel can go through the intake again, and hopefully be burnt off properly. Depending on the location of the crankcase breather, a long wheelie can cause oil to be pushed through this breather tube and into the airbox. Too much oil will cause big problems. A common modification is to run this breather into a catch-can, which will collect the oil, and the gases will just vent to the atmosphere.
See this page for more - PCV valve - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As I said, the video you have shown seems to combine the two. The PAIR Valve is removed, and the hole in the airbox is plugged. This leaves the openings into the exhaust outlets unaccounted for. The crankcase breather is taken off the airbox, and the hole is plugged, then the hose is run into a T-piece, which is connected to the hoses originally used for the PAIR Valve.

So your PAIR Valve is gone, and the blow-by and any oil is goes into the exhaust (without the need for a catch-can) where both are presumably burnt off.

    Seems likes a clever fix

(anyone more knowledgable please feel free to correct me)

close mate, however the oil doent get combusted. that crankbreather is now conected directly to the plates on the cam cover. There is no seperate openings for the exaust outlets, its all done thru the smog plates.

This would be simple to do but it will need a PCV added. Unless you are doing stunting i see little advantage. Getting rid of the AIS isn't a bad thing unless your a greeny.
