    macguyver required - diy bike stand

    guys,

    want to take off both wheels at the same time to have them painted, but i dont have the appropriate bike stands. has anyone done this in a diy fashion? if so can you recommened a method?

    You should at least by a rear stand, if nothing else it makes it easier for oiling your chain properly. Then you could hang the front from the ceiling in the garage, we have done this o a nubmer of times when we've done front forks or steering head bearing changes/repairs

    put something under it that will hold it level and have the bike on dirt , then dig out around the wheeles. if it works take pictures.

    hang the front and put the pegs on a pair of car stands if you have them if your pegs arnt the folding type. If they are the folding type use metal rods in the swingarm pivot holes or something.

    The stands don't even cost that much from Kaneg. I would be worried every second my bike spent on a couple DIY stands I made myself.

    Use some boards and a pair of car jacks. Stabilise with some tie down strapped to the ceiling. Search China and SE Asian forums for other dodgy ways to get it done on the cheap.

    flip it upside down like a bmx,that way you change oil and fuel at the same time.
