Need a welder to fix my shaft ====>

    Hi folks

I had a little mishap on our country run yesterday, I lost my gear selector shaft connection as the factory weld seems to have let go

Wondering if anyone here could drop a small run around the join for me, unsure if it's a special type required such as tig or mig, so I have attached a couple of pics to show what's happened and what's required

I'm in South Lake so if you're nearby all the better

    Thanks in advance

I could help at work tomorrow afternoon, got mig and tig.

But Greg, I think your Shaft needs a better work out than that,I can suggest a better way with happy ending

I actually went straight to 5* on my way home from the ride to buy what I thought was the offending part, luckily for me as I was asking for the ball joint rod that screws down on the shift rod, they didn't have any, nor did 2 other yamaha dealers, it's only this afternoon that I got round to pulling it apart that I found it's actually the shift arm, and that poxy little ball joint rod that's all of 1" long was priced at $87
So I wasn't actually cheap arse, just damn lucky that there was apparently none of the part I was asking for in Australia

I did learn a valuable lesson, pull everything apart and check it out before guessing and rushing down to the bike shop to buy what you think is broken

Yes I agree with that Dark Shadow, and it's often quicker, more satisfying and less wasteful of the world's finite resources to repair something that can still have plenty of life left in it, rather than just throw it away and buy a new one. Same applies to lots of perfectly good things that people throw away as soon as there's a slightly newer and shinier model available

I for one refuse to join "the throwaway society", I doubt if they'd have me as a member anyway.

At the other extreme, you have to remember not to waste time money and effort on fixing something that's not worth fixing, guilty as charged there
