They'll run real hot, especially in traffic.
    I think I saw Ice's R6 get upwards of 120.

That's nothing mate, don't stress too much.
Remember it's a pressurised system too, so it can get well over 100 without boiling.

I don't remember the R6 hitting 120. The R1 did. But yeah - 110 is fine. Mine runs anywhere between 87ish and 98ish for regular riding. It will hit 103 ish if I sit at a longish light on a normal day. On a hot day or in slow stop start traffic it'll run higher.

The bike has a temp warning light. If that comes on park it up and let it cool down. She'll tell you when it's too warm for her! (The temp light is one of the lights that comes on for a couple of seconds when you first start the bike. If it doesn't - get it checked out.)

Oh - and all this stuff is in the manuals. Did you get manuals with the bike? If you need copies I can get them to you.

I've never had mine up to 120. I've seen it at 110 in stopped traffic during summer, but that's the worst. Usually it sits between 80 - 90 in moving traffic, and down as low as 72 with nothing in front of me.

*off topic* I would've fired people too for being on the net while they should've been working. What would you office people do without internet during the day? I shudder to think.

This, plus the coolant has ethylene glycol or similar in it, which will raise the boiling point to 130 or so even without the system being pressurised at all.

If your coolant level is ok, then unless the bike is lighting up warning lights, don't stress

As every one has said they run hot, mine does as well. Full exhaust system is the only way to get a decent drop in temp.
Gutsy question. You're a shark. Sharks are winners, and they don't look back because they have no necks. Necks are for sheep.

I have a full exhaust system. It still runs hot.

Have an 03 R6 and it'll get to 110 when not moving fast and been running a while. Fan kicks in around 98 degrees I think.

The 06+ models possibly run a bit hotter, but on them the fan comes on at 101 degrees and goes off at 98 degrees.
