    Rearsets for GSXR600 K7

    Hey all,

I'm considering rearsets for my K7 GSXR600, but it's not that straightforward. I've got a Yoshi R55 slip-on and the mounting bracket interferes with quite a few aftermarket rearsets, limiting adjustments and sometimes it appears to even prevent installation. Of course, rearsets are quite an investment so I'm hesitant buying anything, just to see if they will work.

I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with K6/7 GSXR600/750s with Yoshi pipes and rearsets and can advise me on a combination that definitely works. One option I have heard is to go for Vortex rearsets and make a custom bracket for the slip-on, but I don't have a way of doing it myself, so it's a matter of finding someone who can. Yoshimura also make rearsets, and you'd assume they are compatible, but I haven't heard that many great things about these rearsets (overpriced and not as good as Vortex and others). I do love the look of the new Driven D-Axis rearsets and they have very flexible adjustments. I've sent e-mails to manufacturers on the off chance that they have definitive information, but I'm guessing it's unlikely. Apart from that, it's difficult to find any definitive answers regarding the compatibility between rearsets and Yoshi pipes as most comments are, "It didn't work", or "Adjustments are limited" which are not too helpful.

If anyone has some experience with this, your help would be greatly appreciated.

have gilles rear sets on my gsxr600 k7 track bike with a micron slip on that bolts straight to it, Not to happy with them just the peg is a werid shape for me and leaves bruises on the bottom of my feet, was just looking at trying to find some other pegs for it at the moment or go back to the standard ones

Cheers. I'm not sure what the Micron slip-on is like in terms of mounting.

The other thing I'm wondering is the position. I'm 5"7 and am quite sure the first step for me would be to raise the pegs so my legs can get a better grip of the tank, but I'm not too sure about the horizontal position. I suspect that shorter riders would benefit (in general) from moving the footpegs forward? I'm reading that the racing guys tend to move them back as far as possible. Is this in general, or just for taller guys? I don't race, and have no intention to, but I am looking to improve body position in the turns by bracing myelf better on the bike and I'd suspect there is a good reason why the pegs are moved backwards in racing applications. Can any of the shorter riders comment on the positions they use? With potential limitations due to the exhaust and possibly even brake fluid reservoir, mounting the footpegs forward and up is not likely to cause too many issues, but moving them back could be trickier.

most of the rearsets will come with just a bracket that is really just a bit of steel plate with a hole in either end for mounting the exhausts so they will work with yoshi slip on its the same mount as the micron,

when it comes to setting the rear sets for your height its just playing around to feel what works mine are set as low and far back but i am 6,4, so if your not happy with the way you sit on the bike you should try them

depends where your leg is sitting with the standard ones but for better cornering on the track your not really gripping the tank between your legs as one is leaning against the tank and the other is usually off the bike,

Carbon, I have just placed an order for a Driven D-axis. It should arrive and be installed in 4 weeks. You are welcome to have a look.
The only problem is that my bike is a 05 ZX-6R. I have underseat exhaust and the design of the rearsets will definitely be different.

I am also 5'7" and have been playing around raising my feet while riding to find the most comfortable position. I'm guessing I will be puting them up slightly, but not sure if I want them more forward or backward. If it's forward, it will be more comfortable but I will be struggling to touch the ground with my feet as my calf will be hitting them (I have short legs... )

I put the Driven D- axis on my ZX6R because I wasn't quite tall enough to get off the bike properly. What happened was that I would get off to a point and then my leg had to be forced into a weird angle to get the rest of the way off. It put a small delay in the middle of getting off which I didn't think would be a good thing once I started going a bit faster.
I only played around with the different positions on the rear sets with the bike on the stand, and set them to the highest point, which is back. This gave me a nice platform to push off of, and when I tried them on track they were good.
The Drivens are a bit of a bitch to adjust on the ZX6R- have to take the whole rear set off because the pegs do up from the rear. Might be different on other bikes. Ive got the protective sliders too so the whole things took a while to set up.
They are very very nice though, feel nice to ride off
I just got my Gixxer on the road and I will probably get Drivens for her too, although I saw the new Gilles a couple of days ago and they look pretty sweet! I didn't know slip on mounts could interfere?
Ive got the 08 750 and have no problem with the position of the OEMs- Im about 5'7" I think (170cms). What I will be getting is some tank grip- the tank isn't great for hanging off of.
Going from the OEMs on that to the Drivens you could really feel the difference.
I was thinking just leave the OEMs on since they are positioned well, until I rode the Drivens again lol.

Hey guys, cheers for the input. Yes, the Driven D-Axis rearsets do seem pretty awesome. I was considering those, but when I asked Driven regarding compatibility with the Yoshi exhaust, they had no idea. I ended up ordering the Yoshi rearsets to ensure compatibility, but also because they can be adjusted a bit higher up (up to 1.5 inches so I'm told) than some of the others and I'm curious to see just what a difference it makes.

As for the position of the OEM footpegs, it's not "that" bad, but I feel if the pegs were a bit higher, I could get a better grip, not just during cornering, but acceleration as well.

And I really have no idea what the go is regarding the exhaust mounts and rearsets. I was talking to two people recently, both with K7's with Yoshi R55's and Vortex rearsets. One had a custom bracket made for the R55 and the other apparently slipped the rearsets straight over the top of the original mounting plate.

Chaos, the Yoshi R55 mounting bracket sits low and just behind the stock rearset. It's not like many of them which use the pillion peg and secure the slip-on further up. If that's the case for you, then you shouldn't have too many dramas getting rearsets to fit.

    Good to know, thank you
