    Rearsets required?

Guys sorry for the noob question, but would a set of adjustable rearsets help keep me off the tank? I'm finding it very difficult to stop sliding forward and my nuts and the tank are far to well aquainted!

    Cheers

By the sounds of it, it might just be the fact your not quite used to the bike yet. I know personally coming off a hyo 250 onto the CBR I had A LOT of trouble with the exact same thing, but in time you adjust your body posisioning to suit the bike your on , it then becomes second nature. If I were you I would hold out for a couple more months then decide, before you go spending on rearsets. IMHO

The seating position of the 848 is pretty aggressive, increased ride height only exagerates the problem. Nature of the beast mate. Use you back muscles more to keep your weight from moving forward... or HTFU

As far as rear sets go. Can't see them helping as they're pretty much directly beneath you, it's not like you can push back off them to hold yourself back.

Give yourself some time to adjust. Or tape a pillow to your tank. One with tassles. Red, of course.

    Use your knee's more........

Adjustable Rearsets are designed to move the footpegs further upwards and backwards, which means you will get even less pressure on them to stop you moving forwards, so wouldn't help you at all.....

Would like to clarify that the rearsets allow greater customization of seating position, not just upwards/backwards....

As with the Gilles ones on Kermit, the range of positions covered allowed me to adjust the position so that I am more comfortable. The increased positions included further forward/upward/backward/downward positions from standard.

Forme on Kermit that meant my legs now fit into the scalloping on the tank, so I am sitting slightly further back/lower and can hold my nuts off the tank better.

    ‘90% useless’ and ‘10% distorted'

    The imagery -

You could take a hammer to the tank and put a few dents where the nuts hit - or take the the hammer and - err no not a good idea!

    Forget the above!

Try a set of Sato rearsets. The ones they make for the 1098/848 move the pegs up and forward as much as 25 mm forward and 30 mm up. Black ones look cool.

Um try and get some stompgrip or similar. Ive just recently put some on my 'blade cos I used to find Id still slide forward a fair bit, especially with a pillion on the back.
Gives your knees something grippy to grip instead of nice shiny smooth paint and comes in clear so not all that noticable either.
By memory shortsteve has some on his ZX10R too.

Get used to it mate, it's a Duke.
Either that, or get stronger forearms.

The problem isn't one of discomfort, its more that i'm scratching the top of my tank as i'm leaning right on it. Yes i have a tank protector, but on top of the tank.

And Desmo, you dont have to worry about the strength of my forearms
