Sorry the photos are pretty crappy, they are from my phone.
I started repairing my fairing over the weekend.
This is a photo of how it was before I did anything. The tape is holding it together while the super glue dries because the fairing was actually separated along the crack (yes I used super glue but it was only to hold it together so I could put fibreglass in on the inside)...
This is a photo of the RH side of the fairing where I sort-of made a mould of the front ridge section...
This is a photo of the inside of the fairing with alfoil on the outside and the mould and masking tape in place before I started fibreglassing (first ever attempt at fibre-glassing).
This is after I have put the fibreglass in ( I put 3 layers in over the cracks and 6/7 layers in all voids).
This is the same section just with all the cardboard and masking tape removed.
This is what it looked like on the outside after fibreglassing. You can't really tell from the photo, but the underside of the protruding section was pretty crappy.
This is a photo of the outside after I had put some body filler on and sanded it... There is also a bit of the new green I'm painting it (I got bored with sanding)... also I did start spraying it with primer or paint every now and then, because with primer it showed which sections of the fairing needed more body filler and also after I had sprayed a coat of paint and sanded it, a lot of holes showed up as well.
This is a photo of the inside after I had sprayed it with one coat of flat black... I just wanted to know I had done something and it was 5 o'clock on Sundayyou can also see the fibreglass I put around the headlight mounts (they were glued in with araldite overnight).
And voila! It actually has a long way to go... The side of the fairing has a pile of scratches down it and I figure while its all off, I might as well fill in ten years worth of stone chips but I'm pretty happy with the results so far...
Any comments?
