    Scala Rider G4 - being a pain!

    Hi all,

So I'm currently on my L's, an the mate that is shadowing me to get riding hours up had been using a Scala Rider G4 (I have one too) to talk to each other while out riding, but we are having some issues with them.

Basically we can get them paired as intercom fine, and can get the phones to also pair with them (iPhone and HTC) do we can receive and make calls while riding, but can't get music to play through them when linked as intercom (music from the phone). If one is turned off, we can get music to play through the other, but as soon as we turn the second one on, they connect to each other and the music stops.

After a ride to mandurah and back Saturday, I found that mine (iphone) would randomly start and stop playing music during the journey, at which point the intercom would drop out, however this wasn't at any set time and only on my head set not his.

My question is has anyone managed to get this working before? Playing music through the headsets from a phone, yet maintaining intercom untill a noise is made through the system?

    Cheers

if your set is on duplex meaning the channel is open for intercom. a list of priorities for the system phone is 1 intercom 2 music 3 if you have intercom open in duplex you get no music.
if you switch to vox voice activation you should be able to have music then when one says a few words the intercom will kick in (you'll miss the start of the sentence) then after you stop talking the music will come back. the voice activation will be set dependant and what level of vox gain you have your mic set at low vox low noise to activate hi more noise to activate.

Its all in the instructions if you just go about pushing buttons they wont do what you want.

if you stop talking for 30 secs music starts or hold down button A for 3 secs and then the music will start but every time you talk it will go back to intercom

Thanks for that. I have read through the instructions multiple times and it just seemed like it didnt want to work. I found the section listing priorities, and i understood that it went Mobile Phone - Intercom - Music, however i was trying to get it to revert back to music when the intercom was disconnected, which it would do some times, but not all the time. I will have to have a look at the voice activation settings and see if that fixes it.

Megs, that is exactly what i want it to do, dont mind holding down button A to get the music to come back, as long as its consitently working i dont care if it involves pressing a button and such, thanks for the advice.

K1GxR, I will give that a shot too, althought it doesnt seem to have any issues finding my phone or the other headsite, maybe its glitching in the software somewhere. Thanks

    Just my 2c

If you're a learner being shadowed I'd leave the music off and focus on what's going on around you more.

Ok so to bring this thread back to life, i am now having a new issue, and i would really like to get it fixed tonight as i have a couple of big rides on tomorow and sunday.

Anyway was working fine, rode to a mates place with it connected to my phone and had music playing no problem at all. Turned it off when i got there, went inside for a bit (couple of hours) and then when i went to turn it on when i was about to leave, the blue light came on, but did nothing else, and is now constantly on. If i plug it into the helmet cradle, i can here static through the speakers, but nothing else. Its not connected to my phone (have checked that on the phone) and none of the buttons are responding, i have tried them all.

I have googled and Cardo suggest either holding the "on" button for 6 seconds, followed by the volume up button for 3 seconds, to force the unit to reset, however that did not work. They also suggest pluggung it into charge to force it to reset but i have tried that via the computer and the power point and niether worked.
I have also downloaded the latest firmware to try and force it to reset by re installing it, however the computer wont even pick up that the headset is connected.

So, any ideas? i have tried everything i can think of and i just cant get the thing to shut down or restart. I dont really want to ahve to let it sit there for a week untill the battery goes flat.

    Cheers

I have a Scala Rider G4 and the same thing happened to mine after I plugged in & then unplugged my MP3 player into the auxilliary jack. It was a faulty unit and it was replaced under warranty.

Yeah I'm thinking this may be the case, thanks for the replies.
After leavin it on and sitting on my desk since Friday night is has finally gone flat, the blue light is off and when I plug it into the charger now the red light comes on. I'm hoping this means it has fixed itself by running completely flat and restarting. I will charge it up over night and try it in the morning, hopefully it will come back to life to save the hassle of getting it replaced.
