    Servicing a motorbike

    Hey guys,

So I believe my bike isn't too far off needing a service. I am wondering, would it be a bad idea to do my own servicing on the bike?
I've spoken to a few people and apparently it's very easy once you've done it a few times.

    So I was just wondering;

    a) Does anyone do their own servicing; If so
    b) Do you have a check list of things you run through when doing a service
    c) What are the most common tools

Sorry if this doesn't belong here, I'm new to the forums.

    PS. I ride a Hyo GT250R

    Cheers

How many k's? I serviced my own 250's with a socket set, torque wrench, some spanners, screw driver and a set of spacers to check valve clearances. I'd let the bike shop do the very first service though

How new is your bike? I am under the impression if you do the service yourself you void the warranty.

2010, Didn't think of that, perhaps I should wait till the warranty is finished (about 6 months left I think).

    a) See b)
    b) Read the owners manual
    b) Get the dealer to do the scheduled ones.
    b) Do an oil & filter change between sevices along with operational checks and adjustments in the manual. (If Whoflungs come with manuals and you are competent to do so)
    c) Usually the tool working on the bike.

You'll need Allen keys to get the fairings off too. Do it yourself, very easy to do.

Unless you really know what you're doing (which you obviously don't - and neither do I) then best to leave the main servicing to the experts and just do the inbetween minor servicing yourself. Just like Aufitt said refer to your bike's manual for details.
