    Sping compression tool

    Hi All,

Does anyone have a rear shock compression tool for swapping the coil spring? I've a replacement spring to fit on an Ohlins shock. Just need to compress, flick out the C clip, drop the spring and slip on the new one. Am happy bring the shock to where you are and do it myself.

    Many thanks in advance!

I've got a set for car springs but don't know if they'd work on a bike spring. You're welcome to bring it round and we'll give it a go.
Can't ride for shit, but I fall really good!

I have one that will do most shockys including Ohlins. Made it myself years ago and it works a treat. It uses my trolley jack as the compressor.

    Spring commpressor tool

    Hi all,

Does anyone have a rear shock compressor tool for swapping out Ohilins springs? The shock is off the bike so can come over to you.

    Many thanks in advance,
    Rich

    Hi All,

Thanks for your responses; looks as if Scott's home made press might be the safest option. The claw/screw type car compressors tend to be hit and miss with bike shocks. Scott, please could you pm your mobile and I'll give you a shout to arrange popping over.

    Cheers,
    Rich

A press would be preferable. Those car type coil spring tools are pretty useless. Scott52 has offered his jig/troller jack; it's too expensive for me to buy a press for a one off job.

    Rich,

See if you can find out the recommended initial mm of preload to put on the spring when you re assemble the spring onto the shock body.

Dynotime in wangara can have it done in about 2 minutes. They're a shop and probably less inclined to give freebies, but it'll only take 2 minutes, I'm sure the cost will be bearable.
