    Sprockets.

Quick question- best place to buy sprockets?
    Looking at going -1/+1 (17/47) or -1/+2 (17/48) on the barge. (ZX12)
Anyone done the 520 changeout and found decent wear and/or a decent priced shop to get these from? Local vs o/s.

Yes, new chain WILL be fitted at the same time.

Any suggestions, words of wisdom welcome.

    Barge = ?

I've got a DID x-ring chain on the 600RR, having gone -1/+2 in 520 size and have 12,000km on it at the moment.

So far its been fine... sprockets/chain have no real visible wear...

YMMV on >1L, but on 600s its fine as far as I can see...

these guys have great service and price, you can get the kit with the chain to the correct length and a rivet link. Personally I wouldn't bother with a 520 unless you couldn't get the right sprocket combo in 525.

18,500 km's on my 520 set on my CBR600. Starting to show signs of wear, but have done quite a few track sessions also. Reckon I'll change them out after 20,000 just for piece of mind.

Are you racing? If not then why bother with the 520 conversion?
As of where to go it depends where you are I guess. I get all my stuff from MotoPro. Always get good service.

Couldn't get preferred sizes locally so was looking for other options. ^^^ Ended up getting 530 in 17/47

    For a ZX12 I'd stay with a 530.

There's no "best" place to buy chain/sprockets ... Ask at a few of the more well known shops around town who carry aftermarket components ...

D.I.D ERV-3's are good, and rated up with RK and others, but like all chains, you need to take care of them regularly ...

Don't use pressure cleaners on them (will destroy the O/X/etc rings)
Don't use degreaser (I know the $2 Supacrap stuff is great, but no no no)
Use Kero and a brush to clean em up like brand new
Lube up with your favourite flavour of suitable lube, Motul, Belray, KY, whatever (sparingly)

Like Semi, I'd probably say stick with a 530 unless there's really a reason you're trying to save the weight down there - do you run it on the track ?

I would stick with the 530 on a barge because of the torque/weight ratio. and i would go for the RK 530GXW rather than DID. we have had a fair few 'o'ring failures on several DID chains lately.

Got a DID VM2 chain and steel 17/47 (530) sprockets for $270 AUD. Nope, no track work just was having problems trying to source the 17/47 combo locally.

KRSC?? Not sure what it is so at a guess no. Just handles like one at times and "house boat" took up too much room

You going to get a speedo re-calibration pato?

Do people view these as something done, or they just live with the extra kays clocked up?

You don't have to fix it, but it's easier than always having to remember what percentage your speedo is out and having the extra kms on the bike when you go to sell it.

+1 for RK GXW series of chains, have 30,000km on the current one and only adjusted it once in the last 20,000km

also JT or AFAM sprockets always seem to outlast my chains

i dont like DID chains, am already having to adjust the one on the RZ250R after every couple of tanks and its only got 5000km on it. i snapped a DID on a ZXR250 once and the r1 chewed up one of their expensive DID erv3 520 x ring chains in less than 10,000km (the same bike that is looking like 40,000km with the GXW 530).

I got my sprockets and chain last year through the Sprocketcenter, cost me ~$327.50 AUD landed with a spare link, I went for the 46T Stealth Tri metal rear sprocket (+2 on stock) for a bit more pick up out of lower speed corners in 2nd
They have an alloy centre/steel teeth for the advantage of a little less weight but the strength of steel as alloy sprockets don't tend to last very long on heavy bikes like the BB
Chain is a DID 530ZVM2 but the previous AFAM/EK combo was good for over 50 000km with minimal maintenance

I originally went for a 16T front as well but the thing was just too low geared and it was a real issue keeping the front wheel down in 1>3 gear
I went back to a 17T front but still needed a Speedohealer as even with the stock 17/44 the BB is ~8% optimistic and the 17/46 knocks the speed down a further ~5kmh and the 16/46 a whopping 11+kmh
Really is a pain doing 120kmh on the speedo but 100kmh actual
Plus obviously the Odo is out as well But at least when you lower the gearing the bike is doing more km than it shows
