Hey guys,
the stator on my VFR is stuffed and needs a rewind. Does anyone know somewhere in Perth that will rewind it and do a good job?

Not sure of anyone in Perth can do them, but you could try Small Coil Rewinds in Geelong... I think there still going
I was searching for info on this the other day (not for me, for a friend), and PSB was about the 3rd result for "stator rewind perth". I found about 3 strong recommendations for the same place.
Let me just find what i found...
The name is not quite the same as when it was posted so it took a bit of working out
Motorcycle Electrics & Auto Rewinds
13/66 Roberts St, Osborne Park

Let us know if that's correct and how you get on...

I believe there is a rewind place in Osborne Park. It's been mentioned here before - maybe search +"osborne park" +rewind. Can't help further than that, though.
:edit:or just look at the post before this one

Had some electrical stuff done on the Triumph after it was knocked over, he does a very good job.

There is another place in Bibra Lk. Haven't used them but they are on Spearwood ave.

I know bertie had the stator rewound on his mito about 12 months ago, you could shoot him a pm.

the osbourne park guy does good work but you pay big, may be cheaper to source a 2nd hand one but it may give you the same problem. For $20 he will test it and tell you exactly what it needs, it might just need a clean.
Had the Ossie Park guy do a Katana Stator for me years ago. Fortunately they were common so it was a case of about $100 on change over for a rewound stator.

Any rough ideas of cost on a stator rewind?
Semi, Ben?
Bit over $200 through Motorcycle Masters
Last time i had one done by the guy in ozzy park it was the plus side of 200. $220 i think, it was something like $40 more than they wanted for a second hand one at TWW. This was for a 929 honda.
Shit, I can buy a new OEM one for $140USD.

Do that, you won't get it that cheap here.
The guy in Ozzy park failed to fill me with any enthusiasm when Akera took her stator there. He didn't sound like he really wanted the work, didn't really sound like he was going to do a good job, just didn't excite the trust gland at all. And he was expensive.
The boys at MC Masters will send them over east for rewind, cheaper and they do a good job.
But if you can get it ex states cheaper, do that. How could it go wrong? </bendito>

Just had one done for a ZX12 and it went $300..... times, they are a changing.
They guy in Ozy park doesnt fill me with confidence.
When he was checking my Cbr he didn't even have a proper pair of leads for his multimeter. The leads he was using consisted of wire that was twisted together and left bare.
If he did dodges like that it made me think what else he was doing that was dodgy.
I have had good work done (commercial rewinds) at O'Connor Rewinds 93379666 0409452737
yeah, I was quoted $250 for an IT175, and that was over 10 years ago.
I just bought the wire from Dick smiths and re-wound it myself by hand! ($10 or so and a couple of hours work!)
Didnt fail again in the couple of years I had the bike. (* individual mileage may vary!)

I though there was another small motor rewinder in Malaga somewhere as well that did bike stuff.
