Kawasaki 'GPX FTW'

Spuddy's Avatar

I installed a new brake/indicator pod on the back of my GPX the other day and in doing so removed the rear fender - which got me inspired to chop it down. So... I did!

I'm not saying anything bad about the 'fender eliminator' kits you can buy on the net or whatever, but this took about an hour or two, and the only new part added was a piece of scrap metal flashing, cut to shape.

So now she's gone from this...

To this!

What do you think?

Just be aware... that may cause a square yellow sticker to be placed on your windshield.

There is a regulation stipulating the distance between indicators.

They couldn't be much closer than the indicators on the ZX10R and the GSXRs.

not wrong there, the 10 is measured with feeler gauges. I have seen the indicators on the body pass at the pits but you will need a number plate light. says he who has none.

I hear ya. Then there was a day that I had the old reflex and artline plates on my bike and ran through a booze bus.

unless your being a knob (poetic licence used here) and you get pulled over they only have a look at rego and general road worthyness.

so no 3 k mingers or rolling burnouts and you should be right, oh and when they pull you over don't start "whats it dis time pig", that will not do you any favours.

The taillight unit has a clear panel in the bottom of the brakelight, to shine down on the numberplate.

that may be so, but if you look at exhibit A (the first pic) you will see a number plate light, now normal bikes don't have both, maybe he changed both.

That's what I'm saying. The new one has the clear bit, so it was ok to lose the separate light.

I dunno about the zx10 but the new GSXRs are a LOT further spaced apart than on Spuddy's rear end.

What do I think? It looks ok bur i suspect a pineapple isnt too far off.

I think its ironic how you went to the trouble of blanking your plate in the pix but in your sig its clearly visbile.

Its not so much that I went to extra trouble this time around, as I forgot to for my sig.

I actually did it for these new photos when I posted them up on a seperate forum. I dont really mind if people know my numberplate.

As far as getting the pineapple for the indicators being too close together, I'm pretty sure that unless I am being a dickhead or the cop in question is being a dickhead, i should be ok.

They're about the same (ZX and GiX) I think, I'll check when I get home.

Is the distance from inside edge of the indicators or outside?
