    Weird clicking noise (ZZR250)

So today i was opening up my bike a bit on a ride and something bad happened
I was sitting at about the redline in 3rd and i accidently shifted down into second, I heard the bike rev right up, saw the speedo do a complete rotation then i started to hear a weird clicking noise, does anyone know what could be wrong with the bike?

    thanks

More info required I would say.....

is it still running as it should, is this clicking noise all the time now, at certain revs, is it consistant with the revs ie: does the frequency of the ticking increase as the revs increase ???
    Is smoke evident ???

either way, anything is possible if you have over reved it and by how much.... wouldn't like to be you at the moment ..... could potentially be expensive !

How the hell did you down shift if you were accelerating and going up through the gears ???

I know someone that used to do that coz they played around with track shifting (1 up 5 down) for a while and just ended up getting confused because they owned three bikes

Maybe he was track shifting his ZZR

i should add it only happens when the engine revs and the more it revs the more it clicks.

just whenever the engine revs up it clicks, the less revs the slower it clicks

imppossible to know without taking a look. depending on how much you over-reved it, could be serious.

did you get the other problem fixed with the rego?

Are you sure you saw the speedo do a full rotation? Thats weird, id say it either has nothing to do with it or all to do with it.

hmmmm, did it go back around in reverse after it's rotation ?

Where abouts is the clicking comming from on the bike ??
    Up high, down low ?

its coming from the front right fairing from the sound of it, i imagine its the transmission or something like that, and it did a full rotation past the redline to 0 then reversed back, so it went from 13k > 0 then back to 13k

pull off the sprocket cover and make sure you havent spun the driven sprocket nut

if the sprocket has loosened enough so the joining link is clipping the sprocket cover it could explain the clicking sound

anyway, you dont want the sprocket falling off its quite bad when that happens. best case scenario the chain yanks it inbetween the frame and the swingarm, worst case it yanks it through your calf.

edit: and its a tachometer, not revometer *sigh*
