Smile ZZR 250 - Idles perfect but has trouble past 6000rpm

    Hi guys,

I have an issue with my bike that started yesterday.
I was in a hurry and was applying a bit more gas than usual, was in 2nd gear at 8000rpm coming out of a corner when it slipped out of gear and revved just below redline (13000rpm) then instantly it engaged 2nd again and violently dropped the revs back down.

From this moment onwards under load I can hardly get the bike past 6000rpm, any more then 1/4 throttle at this point seems to choke the motor and makes a deeper exhaust note.
Although it idles perfectly when free revving it up to about 10k it doesn't feel as smooth as it should.
There is also no smoke exiting the exhausts.

I have tried replacing the spark plugs but still the same issue.
I have emptied the bowls of the carby, was a couple of flakes of dust but that was all. (carby was overhauled in Feb)

I am just after any ideas before I send the bike off to the workshop

I would say you have a slightly blocked main jet...

Had a feeling it was, just was a little skeptic about how it happened, but the quick rev might have moved some shit into the main jet.

I'll pull it off now and have a look.

    Cheers

Yep, the extra revs causing more suction and the clunk of the gear change...

    Thanks Rich

Pulled them out and checked the jets, one hole was almost blocked, amazing such a small blockage can cause a BIG problem.

Now she runs better then when I got her back from the shop after the carbys were rebuilt..
