Updated 7th June!!! - See This Post!!

    ****************
    Update 5th June

It just occured to me guys that there is a small chance such a large order of lines might get pinged by customs coming into Australia. If this is the case I may be forced to charge people an extra $10 - 15 or so for each set of lines they have ordered. This is the worst case scenario. While this hopefully wont happen, I just want to let people know incase they cant afford the $10 or so and wish to pull out and have me refund their money.

While I would love to be able to pay it myself, 10% tax (or whatever they charge these days) on $10k is an shedload of money.

If you cant afford this extra money and wish to pull out because of it let me know ASAP. Otherwise the order will go ahead tomorrow.

This is the absolute worst case scenario though, with any luck they will get through customs fine and we can all be happy with out bargain priced braided lines.

The other option is to get HEL to undervalue the package, the only problem with doing that is we can only insure it for the amount valued. I would much rather risk everyone paying an extra $10 - $15 then losing the stock through a freak accident and being $5k down. Because of this I'm not going to even consider this as an option.

If you arent happy with potentially having to pay $10 - $15 more if needed, you will need to cancel your order.

Sorry for screwing people around. I hadnt even thought of customs until just now.

If you are fine with the fact you *may* have to pay $10 - $15 extra then you dont have to do anything. If you wish to cancel your order you will need to post here or PM me.

    Kris

    Meh.... Still a bargain.

Alright guys I have been in further talks with HEL and we may have figured out a nice easy way around it. Basically if HEL send out the brake lines in 40 or so different packages (say 2 kits in most, a few with 3 kits) via post and not courier, they should hopefully get through customs fine since the package value would only be $230 etc each.

Basically the only downside to this is it takes a bit more planning before the order to get people to "pair up" as such and provide an address for HEL to send to. Obviously those who have ordered 2 or 3 kits themselves can just provide their own address and that would be fine.

From what I have read/researched, GST is usually only charged on packages over $500AU, and sending it via post rather then courier it is much more likely to get through without being checked.

HEL says they can have the kits made up in approx 2 weeks, and then it would take another 2 weeks or so to post them to us instead of using a courier, hence it should only be about 4 weeks still from when the order gets confirmed.

Since HEL are willing to do this for us for little or no extra I think its probably the best way to go.

What do others think? Is everyone happy to pair up with someone else and have both kits delivered to their own address?

I'm open to suggestions guys so let em fly.

Obviously the other option I forgot to mention is we just get it couriered like originally planned and risk paying anywhere between 10% - 30% in GST/fees/duty crap ($10 - $30 extra each). Unfortunately I have been told there is a very good chance there would be extra fees on top of the GST due to the size of the order, hence why we have been discussing alternative methods.

im happy to pair up, i live in scarbs but can pick up/drop off anywhere, but i'm also happy to risk the fees etc to save some hassle.

i imported 4 large boxes (2mtrs x 800mm x 800mm approx from memory?) from germany a couple of years ago, they had skateboards in valued at about $2500 and they got checked at customs but cost me nothing, I just had to go to airport to pick up. Too easy!!!

I'll go with the majority but if anyone knows about customs or better still works/knows someone at customs let us know so we can get an idea of what where up for.

At the end of the day- GIMMIE BRAIDED LINES

Me to. Probably easiest for me and Rooster to pair up. We live right near each other.
