Group Buy 2: Radar detectors and more

With special thanks to Nick from Radar detectors and laser jammers Australia. I am pleased to present to my fellow PSB'ers, a fantastic opportunity to ensure that your safe driving continues.

I have arranged, for a limited time only, the ability for PSB'ers to get a tremendous discounts on the following items:

Whistler Pro 78 rrp $595, GROUP BUY Price: $250

Whistler XTR 695 (special for bikers as has wired or bluetooth earpiece attachment for audio in your helmet) rrp $495, GROUP BUY Price: $250

GF100 laser jammer rrp $595, GROUP BUY Price: $300

GF100 laser jammer with ProPark assist: rro $795, GROUP BUY price: $400.

If you purchase a jammer and detector, you get a free breath analyzer valued at $50 so you will never need wonder if you are over the limit again.

Rules are simple, call Nick on (08) 9370 4038, quote Simon and PSB Group Buy and purchase. This is a limited offer until 15 JUne 2009.

    Any questions, post em up........

If technical questions, call Nick. Free delivery by registered post included in prices. I consistently get 100m plus warning on multinovas. The laser jammers can be set to turn themselves off after 3 seconds, which allows for the cop to then get a reading. If you have ever used a laser gun, they are very hard to get a reading on with the slightest movement. The error code generated by the laser gun when the jammer is active is that the copper has moved his arm, not that it is being blocked. I traded a top of the line BEL for the whistler and have not looked back.

Done well to get those sort of prices mate!

    Quick question, and possibly stupid.

If I am pulled up by the constabulatory, am i likely to be booked for having one of these on my bike?

    No they are not illegal.

    But...........

If you do have one and get caught speeding you have buckleys of getting a warning and a good chance of getting e Yellow for something stupid.

They might be a little more annoyed at you but it's not illegal to have radar detectors here, W.A is the only state left where they are still legal.

Radar detectors are not illegal, but laser jammers are.

Laser jammers are not illegal. If the police detect you using it to interfere with their speed measurements they can get you. But then how do they prove it? The good jammers don't set off the laser gun's jam codes.

These guys do independent reviews of laser jammers and radar detectors: Radar Detector Tests and Reviews by Guys of LIDAR

Also, there are very few radar detectors that provide consistent adequate warning for rear facing multanovas so don't expect to be immune.

If a cop points a laser at you and doesnt get a reading back then they know, and detectors are shit house at warning about lasers.

It is EXTREMELY difficult to get a laser reading on a motorcycle. I have tested this myself - both holding the laser gun myself and also on the other end of a cop's laser gun (close call ). To continually get readings even 100m away the officer must be resting against a stationary surface or have very steady hands. Secondly, laser guns have the ability to gain readings very quickly but only if there is a strong enough signal returning. The bike's very small cross section makes obtaining speed readings very difficult.

I had a top of the line beltronics detector (before a thieving fucker liberated it) and multanova readings were ok(forward facing, this was before they spun them round) and the old style car mount radars were great, but the most used ones here are handheld laser and by the time I got a warning I was already done.

I don't think any windshield mounted radar detector would be water proof. You can buy weather proof boxes however this makes it even more difficult to mount on the bike. Then you've got to think about how to transmit the information - there are various visual and audio aids available. I have seen several dedicated radar detectors for bikes, however most are designed in the US where they use Ka radar guns (high powered), and they are almost insensitive to multanovas.
