"The State must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation." Adolph Hitler, Mein Kampf

I used to be a tradesman with 2 trades and set to make the big bucks until I ignored doctors orders on treating injuries after being hit by a car and went straight back to work thinking I needed the money. I drive trucks now since most of my body aches continually and manual labour or work requiring fine motor skills for extended periods is close to impossible, almost as much money but twice as many hours and not quite the same respect when you say what you do, heed the warnings and good luck with the healing![]()

I'm in the same boat mate.
cut up two of my tendons beginning of jan
doc reckons 12 weeks to fully heal.
it is depressing big time.

I rode my Norton to my first and all subsequent physio sessions, but I did nothing for the first 6 weeks following surgery till the tendon had time to fuse. I had a colleague attempt to remove my left thumb with a chainsaw, so the tendon is a little shorter which means I can't quite open that hand all the way. That said, the physio was stoked with my recovery, saying it was easy to know who was following their therapy instructions and who wasn't.
Flip side my mother has had 3 rotor cuff repairs, the last of which failed because she got complacent about that 6 week rest period, so she now can't lift her right arm from the shoulder very well. As has been said, follow all professional advice to the letter, they really do want you to recover as fully as possible

^This, go through all the options too as to what you think you will need, no point in paying for stuff that you wont need. I made that mistake and was paying cover for psych, cardio and a few others
yeah heard that before, also read the story of a forum member who took that advice and a short time later had some serious heart issues at from memory 22 years old
if you think you need private health insurance get the best you can afford
it's like insuring your bike and finding out you can save 10% by not insuring for asteroid impact there is always the minute chance that you will come back to it after a day at work with a great big space rock hanging out of the fuel tank![]()
