    Appetite suppressant..any suggestions?

I need to find a good appetite suppressant….I find I am always hungry, even after a good feed!

My worst habit is eating in bed!

Any suggestions to suppress my ravenous appetite will be greatly appreciated.

Eating is often driven by habit (i.e. chomping down biscuits at 8.30pm in front of the telly, eating in bed, having a muffin with your morning coffee etc) so identify those and get yourself out of those situations to prove to yourself you don't need to eat and then it helps your confidence.
Click here to see my Ducati 999R in the PSB garage... You'll love it!

Don't click here to see my ZX9R aka The Ginger Ninja... there's no link!

    The best is duromine,

But you need a script or a bent DR to give it to you, I cut up big time on these babys, they have pesudo effidren (spelling)

they will keep you up all night, make you angry but you will not eat a thing and drop the pounds straight away

The only bad thing is you will get used to them after the first 4-6 months then they will do nothing for you and there is nothing else that works as good.

next step is extreem and you prob wont want to go down that path.

    But good luck with it.

    Any idea why?

You must burn a fair bit of it up as from memory you aren't very big, so your metabolism must be OK, you sound like you're just bored.

Find something interesting to do, that will take your mind off food. Also bed is for sleeping (and sex) don't do anything else other than that in it, when you wake up get out of it.

more protein, less carbs. Leaves you feeling fuller for longer.
    Sarbear and retrojit like this.
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

Jez I've tried a couple of the one's you get from the chemist in tablet and powder forms and they didn't really have much of an effect. They take the edge off your appetite but that's about it. The adverts with ppl saying "Ohhh I felt soooo full" are a crock. I'm aiming to lose about 8kg myself and I know I'm just going to have to draw on some willpower along with some moderate regular excercise.

I've had a couple of my clients do a course of Duromine and I'd recommend not to use it for the reasons already pointed out by RR and simply because it's not sustainable nor a lifestyle change. What exactly are you eating in bed and are your eating habits fairly OK?

    Nuts.

Keep a bag(try and avoid the salted stuff for obvious reasons) handy, and grab a handfull every now and again.

Has worked for me before, not as a way to loose weight, but it certainly surpresses that want to eat.

I have a lapband and while it isn't for everyone, it does work. That being said, it's won't really help with suppressing appetite.

As you say, not a good idea if you want to keep weight off. Nuts = Fat (mostly). Better bet is something like celery or carrots.

Nuts are a whole food, the fats you get from the nuts is a relatively small amount and are considered essential fats. high in protein which helps suppresses hunger pangs like barfrangipani said.

i'd say try to eat more; whole food, smaller meals a day, rather than 3 or 2 large meals and snacks!

Nuts are extremely high in energy though so while they are good fats that doesnt discount the energy, go very very easy with the nuts or you will undo your good work. Go baked beans if you want a low kj snack that is low Gi and will keep you full.

True, but as the OP is sitting in bed munching, I'd still stick to lower fat content snacks.

    Didnt mean it like that....

The nuts acctually act to make you feel full (more so than carrots or cellery) by a chemical means. It is the high level of protein and a hormone called cck (I think, also has some other fancy name, cholecystokinin ) that fool you into being full prematurely. A quick search seems to suggest pine nits are the best for cck, but even the protien in any nuts causes this cck to be produced and make you fuller quicker.
    season 2012 is coming.....
