Yes, H + I used to be right into this stuff... but the constant moving from one rental to the next put an end to that. We've been thinking about doing it again now that we're finishing moving for good. Still have all the gear.

At the moment, I am trying to chase down a tube for the lighting, has the standard fluoro in there, but I need to get a special daylight tube.
The aqua one tank is a funny size, 11 inches I believe, I'd love to get a blue one... I might even pop in 2 daylight (gro) tubes, and install a third standard fluoro for additional lighting.
Also looking at the possibility of a protein skimmer.... It's only gonna be a basic FOWLR tank, so possibly won't need too much filtration with a decent cleanup crew.
Also need a second powerhead to get my 10x flow, as the one in there is a bit measly right now.
It's an aqua one 580 tank. Not the best for marine I know, but should make a lovely little nano.

I used to go to lamp replacements in balcatta to get my tubes. I found these trade distributors to be the best place to get specialist tubes (grolux etc).

11 inch lights may be a hard length to find, I had trouble sourcing 2 foot tubes.

I don't have any experience with salt water setups... all I know is that seaview aquariums in balcatta do mostly salt water.

Yeh i know the tank you talking about, you're gonna need to pop a Day tube and a Blue Moon in there minimum. To keep everything happy. Not sure about the Fish shops over here as i worked in one in Melbourne. Altho Rocky Reef down here in Rocko has been very good for all my needs so far. And they specialise in Marine.

Most places wont stock those tubes on the shelf as they are not the standard size but they should be happy to get them in for you.

Ironic that this has come up, i was just taking some shots of my 2 tanks and was going to post them up.

I run 2 Japanese ADA style tanks, small tetra's, lots of em, plants, C02 injection etc etc.

One is a 4 foot double sided (cut into wall) and the other is a 2 foot i have in my study. I get all my gear off Greg (user seaview) & Micheal (user liquid visions) at Seaview Aquariums in Balcatta (same complex as Cash convertors and Ranger Camping on cnr of Wanneroo and Amelia st).

These guys have it all, and what they dont usually isnt worth using. They are also a ADA agent, do all other great too so well worth a visit. They do a LOT of custom work too, from cabinets to glass tanks.

We just got rid of 2 x 700ltr tanks full of Tropheus Cichlids that we 'fish-sat' for a year.

Now have a respectable 65ltr and cleaning takes an hour, not 3!

Morley Aquariums are good for stuff, he custom builds tanks so has all sorts.

Go ahead and play the blues if it'll make you happy.

    Marine cols?[/b]

Not sure to be honest. i think I will stick to fresh water tropical. As im a learner aquariast I dont wanna take on something to technicle. The tank is being set up for me by an aqaurium shop, I told him the look I wanted(coral reef look) but with fresh water tropical fish. Hopefully it will be up and running in the next month or so. Just waiting on the cabinet to be finished. Its 6 foot long and about 1 metre high and half a metre deep(approx) so it will be spectacular when done. Will post pics when its done.

    I have a 5x2x2 reef tank.
First tank i've ever owned and i love it.
I've had it about two and a half years and have spend maybe 10 grand but i have all tunze equipment and it is fully automatic as i work away.

I have a spare metal halide light for sale if anyone is interested. Bit to big for a nano though

    desmo,

can you measure the tube for me I have 13.5" tubes and also a 12" tube in stock both are grolux tubes and are $10 the 12" one is actually 285mm long plus the pins sticking out at each end so i think this is the right one to fit your tank. you can call the shop if you like details are below

    seaview aquariums
    shop 2, 386 wanneroo road
    westminster, 6061
    + 08 9344 7210
    + 08 9345 2633

let us know and I can other tubes if needed but pretty sure this is the one that fits your tank.

I'd like to get myself a couple of pairs of seahorses. I just think they are such elegant, beautiful, frisky lil creatures.

Anyone have experience of looking after them or know of a good local supplier? I have found a place in QLD that reckons they ship them all over the world. I have no idea how and would hate to stress them anymore than necessary to get them to my place. Actually my boss has given me the thumbs up to have them at work given thats where I spend all my time. I don't know whether my desk will withstand the weight of a tank so I might need to have one made?
