The Murray is not a race its just playboating. The rapids are much larger than the Avon. There is a race of sorts held on the lower Murray as part of the Murray river white water festival but its a pretty closed event due to the size of the rapids most of the guys paddle playboats or creek boats.

You wouldn't have a date for that race would ya Marty ?

Mmmm - well not being the strongest swimmer around, I'm not sure how useful I'd be. I have some experience at pulling people out of the water though having been at the right spot at the right time to rescue a capsized boat of burqa wearing women, kids and a few men in Banjarmarsin (none of whom could swim at all). The water was so festy I lost my hearing in one of my ears for nearly a week .

So if being a uber strong swimmer is not a criteria, let me know as I'd be keen to get involved.

I have only been involved with paddlecraft in the past, so the motor variety is all new to me.

Eukanuba have you done this race also ??? Il take you up on the beer offer also. When the event gets closer we can chat. I have trailer so can help out with support crew duties if needed. Il be following boat 011, 021 and 110 but whats one more hey
Done many blackwoods, tho i didnt do the sunnyside the other weekend - I just cant justify going up a rapid.. that's just hooliganism.. frank berloth was organising that one..

I'd like to have all my gear in 1 piece before i get to the avon, I do enough damage as it is

Been ASU for many years, and done lots with the PDRC - this is the first year I've put my boat in tho.. so it's completely different when you're in the race for your self.. ( not to pull others out )

I'm finishing the trailer at the moment, and putting the last licks on the final to my painted masterpiece de sled
( will post pics, if anyone's interested )

11,21 and 110 hey ? I've got the missus following on her first years duties.. she cant go too wrong.. I've got all the maps for her..

Feel free to come say hi at camp matey, we're camping up with reece and the boys from mciver.. no idea if we'll be near the rest of em.. but we're hoping to get somewhere decent that's not in the back paddock

If anyone sees a red Ace 515, race number 969 downstream of Bells somewhere let me know... It's got a pelican dry-box tied to the back seat and a break-down paddle in the bow. Well, it did at the time.

One of my mates lost it yesterday and is desperate to get it back to compete.

How's ya training going boys ? ( and grrrls )

We managed a quick pass from northam to katrines, checked at 57k/h and passed through for a run to dumbarton.. then on to glen-avon where i promptly launched over the weir and onto a big ass mofo rock someone left there.. ( I swear it wasnt there last year.. )

fixing the hull tonight, all good.. anyone got any pics up yet ?

How desperate is your mate ?

For a price, a rescue crew could deploy and search for said ' lost vessel '

    tl:dr

Where is a good spot for me to pitch up on the Saturday with a DSLR, a bit of white water and a desire to rampantly shoot?

depends what you're chasing mate.. if you want some airborne pics.. and crashes... great place is just below the northam weir.. you can go along side the bank, near the rocks.. like this one.. always good crashes..

if you're looking for high speed passes, like the above.. go to katrines bridge..

you could make your way out to extract's - which is where the ' vinidex chute ' is - and there's always humungous spills and crashes there too... that's where most come to grief, and to be honest - I might portage around there, cos i wanna finish the race.. not spend it on the riverbank waiting for my recovery team

here's my sexytime, from sunday - over the northam weir...
