I gave up on BF2 after I had dramas with the patches not allowing me to play after update and not allowing me to restart the patch DL.

EA's advice was to "Start from a clean install of XP" WTF!!!!!

I chucked it.

But if you fkrs are playing regularly I will find a copy and give it another shot.

wow i missed all these posts, I have been flat out but keen to hurt some BF2 - Fez I had HEAPS of drama's but eventually got it to work pretty good. We should book in a time when everyone is available, ill nominate Thursday (tomorrow) night at 7.00pm WST

Tried to boot it up a month or so ago, but Punkbuster didn't like me running the Windows 7 Beta.

Might give it another shot now its officially released though..

I have a brand new fresh install of Win7 64 running. I'll install Steam and BF2 and see if I can get things running.
I had a real problem getting the headset microphone to work but thought I had it cracked before I installed Win7. Hopefully it runs OK this time, but I think it was more to do with the Gigabyte motherboard and the Realtek audio manager.
Tomorrow night works for me, Si.

i hate realtek, nothing but problems from them! Must fish my BF2 out.....get round to dl the patch....1 gig later on 512 speed, woot

Yeh, I have probs. I can get the mic to work but then nothing through the game or Realtek program thingy.
I can't find the Windows volume controls that were there in XP. Strange. Will have a better play around later. Game is installed, at least. I did get a warning saying it hasn't been tested on anything other than XP 32bit but I doubt there will be too many problems.

Do you run Steam, Si?
It's a bit like MSN but also lets you know what games people are playing. Due to me not having bought a game through them I can't add friends. It allows 'chat' in a game, though, so if you're on a server and decide it's crap you can easily tell the other person/people. I should be online tonight sometime.
