Hey Saf, is it too late to prune back plants (not sure that word is when you cut half the root and foliage away)? I remember reading somewhere that spring is the best time to do it, just before the onset of the new summer growth but I want to get a few more plants going before summer really kicks in...

My Mum has a Brazilian Cherry tree, bonsai'ed, about 11 years old. Although for some reason it's not flowering this year.

She is also in the process of bonsai'ing a Moreton Bay Fig. She tried with some Norfolk Island Pine trees but as you can imagine it didnt really work out too well

In Jandakot on North Lake Road there is (well, there used to be) a fairly large Bonsai place that sells them and supplies, etc.

Moreton bay figs are some of the easiest plants to bonsai.

Should be no problems, still pretty early.

Also some native varietals are excellent to bonsai, banksias, malaleucas and sheoaks make amazing moyogi style bonsai. I tried to do the lightning strike look with a small sheoak I rescued from a bobcat but I shocked it a little too much. Going to try again though.
Gutsy question. You're a shark. Sharks are winners, and they don't look back because they have no necks. Necks are for sheep.

    Sweet cheers speed3.

Yeah scoundrel I'm working on a fig and a Japanese box tree ATM. The Cherry tree's look awesome. I really want to bonsai a Japanese maple and an english oak both formal upright. Apparently they don't really like the weather over here but damn they look good!

+1 For what desmo said, the figs are a excellent beginners plant and look good down the track when the leaves start to become smaller. The trunks look sweet too...
