Builder/Renovator

Have an older home that is in serious need of renovation. Rough extensions are in place, but it is not pretty. Main issues would be kitchen and extending a room (with brick wall removal, so structural issues there) and some ceiling replacement.
I know too many people with horror stories with various firms to go Yellow Pages and take pot luck, and would prefer to pay someone who takes pride in their work to do a good job - time not being a major issue.
Anyone available or recommended?

did you get anyone to do this work? looking at getting some small renovations works done at mine and would prefer someone who has been recommended
