didn't you ask this a few days ago? I see the thread has been modded, but if I recall correctly Barfy conclusively stated pedo(bears) have the right of way... regardless, even if they didn't have right of way, it's not like I'd go out of my way to run one down, so effectively, it doesn't really matter whether or not they have right of way... then again, they might just got me on a "I don't give a fuck day" (which is any day ending with 'Y') in which case, I'll just plow on thru them![]()

i have hit a few before in the city. they just walk out drunk onto the road. ive seen them get smashed by cars aswell![]()

If you are turning at an intersection pedestrians have the right of way and you must stop for them, they must give way to vehicles at roundabouts are two that I am aware of.
Straight stretches of road they must give way to vehicles bar for crosswalks and Hay street in town where office workers are invincible and can just step out and wander around on the road with impunity![]()

Why is that?
hit a few on the pedal pushie and motorbike. in the city![]()

Avoid hitting them, they are squishy and mess up your paint work, let alone the legal complications

The only place they do not have right of way is on roundabouts... WEIRD.

Another perfect day in paradise.
So how many have you hit?

Isnt this self explanatory, no wonder you are having problems. I'll write it one more time slowly.
The pedestrians must giveway to vehicles at roundabouts.
That still dosent mean you can run them over. You must avoid hitting them at all times.

Pedestrians always have the right of way, and the man is always "in charge" of the household, but they're both screwed if they try to prove it.
A bit of common sense should prevail, right of way or wrong of way don't hit the squishy things without protective gear on.
Would be like aiming for a bike or car on the road to prove they were doing the wrong thing.

Seriously man, who the fark cares if its a roundabout, a cross walk, a freeway, a bridge or a car park. Just dont hit pedestrians. It aint rocket science. Its irrelevant who has right of way.
If you've "hit a few" then the problem is with YOU not the pedestrians. When you're riding through heavily congested areas you need to be ready for people jumping out.
If you're on a straight bit of road and you hit a pedestrian who is sitting in the middle of the road, there is an extremely good chance that you will be held primarily responsible. Granted, they will cop a little bit of contributory negligence, but you will be guilty of failing to pay due care and attention (or whatever the equivalent is in NSW). So dont hit them.
