CoD6: Modern Warfare 2 - So excited I just might pee.

'Sup ya'll,

So three days until one of the most anticipated gaming releases becomes available.

I'm a great fan of the original series of CoD games but most WWI/WWII games bore me a little - no matter how well or poorly you play you still know the outcome . Then Modern Warfare came along and wow... just wow. It won over 80 game of the year awards and was the highest selling game of 2007 - so MW2 is expected to be something exceptional.

So who's hanging out to get it? What platform you getting it on and what's your gamer name? Anyone up for a few games upon its release - or even (dare I say) a LAN ?

PS. Miss DeSade has pre-ordered it for me for PC (charming lass ) - but I have the prestige edition pack coming (the REAL geeky one with (questionably) functional night vision goggles) for xBox. I have NO intention of ever playing it on xBox *spit* so I have already organised a buyer for just the game.

Getting it on Xbox. not that exhited really as far as FPS i find it generic and boring. Online play is the only reason i am forking out for it.

Oh and don't forget to sign this petition Dedicated Servers for CoD:MW2 Petition to say "fk you" to InfinityWard unless they actually pay attention to their fans and stop being tossers to the PC community.

It's a huge discussion for those that don't know what it's actually about. If there's enough interest I can explain it at length later post but in the mean time - for those that don't get what all the hub-bub is about. Essentially IW lost the respect of thousand by taking dedicated servers away from PC players replacing it with P2P servers. There are currently over 185,000 signatures on the petition and EVERY gaming forum in the world went into a flurry at its announcement so even if you're not certain what it's all about be sure to put your name on the petition... I promise you wont be signing all medical responsibilities to Desmo in the event of an "accident".

Hmmm, COD6, nah... I think I'll skip it.
Plenty of other quality titles out at the moment that deserve my money.

If I need a fix of COD, 4 will do me fine, at least it was worth paying for.


I have a major issue with a developer saying "FUCK YOU" to their customers, relying on unpaid labour to finish what they started.


Edit: The dedicated server thing is just the tip of the iceberg. They've deliberately hamstrung a lot of tweaks that people like to apply to their games. They've also screwed anyone with surround gaming hardware by locking the FOV. They've bent over backwards fucking people in fact, stating that they have tried to restrict people modifying "their"(infinty ward's) experience as much as possible. They can eat a dick. /nerd rage

I hear ya Kryzaach, and I'm in complete agreeance - few are as disappointed as me about the controversy surrounding IW atm, I organised a pre-order for this game 6mths ago. And if my pre-order weren't bought for me as a present I would have thought hard about cancelling it.

But all that said, and as much as IW may be wankers, and as much as online play will be broken on PC in Australia I don't doubt for a second the shear enjoyment I'm going to get from playing it...

Each to themselves and of course make up your own mind, but I don't see a damn thing in that vid that doesn't look like this game is going to fail to deliver... well aside from the whole "ice pick/mountain falling" thing: "Oh no he's going to fall to his death... oh look surprise surprise, someone caught him and supported his entire weight with just one hand, what a turn of events" .

Yeh but that was back when they respected PC as their primary audience and accepted that we were solely responsible for the enormous success of the Call of Duty series.

As for BF2 isn't that made by DiCE who are in complete competition with IW? A competition to the degree of them slandering IW (most hilariously I must admit though) and trying to do damage control by snapping up all the pissed of MW2 fans and converting them over to Bad Company 2 (which will be coming out next year - for PC also).

A lot of buzz has been floating around the internet lately about dedicated servers and we wanted to make sure our all our players have the best understanding of how Battlefield will be played on the PC. Since Battlefield 1942 DICE has used dedicated servers for all platforms. This formula has worked well, and still works well, for us and for the gaming community. We have stayed true to this practice and will continue this tradition into the upcoming title Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Other games use player-hosted or 'peer to peer' solutions, often resulting in a "host with the most" situation; where the player hosting the match has an advantage over other players connected to their game. Everyone else is dependent on the host's internet connection and if they don't have a great connection neither will you regardless how great of an internet you have. Also, unless server migration is implemented the game ends when that hosting player quits the game forcing you to find another player-host or start your own. With dedicated servers everyone gets non-stop action with no connection penalties based on some other player and their internet. This makes dedicated servers the best solution for online PC gaming hands down! So rest assured PC players, Battlefield will stay true to its roots offering dedicated servers to all its players and continue the tradition of the ultimate FPS gaming experience!

Dedicated Server FAQ for Battlefield Bad Company 2 PC

Will there be an option to have my own dedicated server? Yes, DICE will have trusted partners with datacenters worldwide that you'll be able to rent a dedicated server from ensuring you always have a quality server in your region.

How much will it cost to rent a dedicated server for Battlefield Bad Company 2? Because these are offered by the trusted partners we can't answer that, but they will be priced fairly according to your market.

Can I control my server with remote admin tools? Yes, you will have the ability manage your server via remote admin tools allowing you to manage your server, your way.

Is there the option to give my server a custom name? Yes, you'll be able to name your server what you like.

Will I be able to make a reserve list for my server? Yes, you will be able to reserve a limited amount of space on your server when public for whom ever you like.

The thing i don't get is the hosting. If the host changes for each game, and changes to me, my laptop WILL NOT be able to handle it, not by a long shot!
I've tried hosting a 1v1 COD4 game, and even that started lagging during firefight. Then everyone will leave, and i will have to find a new game...
Will be interesting to see how this goes...

Mmm, why do you think there's such an uproar man... though that said I highly doubt it's your laptop that's letting you down, it will have more to do with your internet connection. You running on ADSL1?

But when i did host a 1v1 that was over CAT5, so the internet will make it even slower.
Therefore, Me hosting 9v9=Not going to happen

i dont use xbox live though so i dont have a gamer tag.

the most hardcore i get is i have an ultimate stealth black controller. (actually its just a normal black one, but surely it helps when you are hiding)

am and was excited... i love cod 4 hate cod 5 so obviously couldnt wait for cod 6 to come back... modern warfare is my thing ww2 is blah... but im not as excited anymore due to the whole no dedicated servers and multiplayer is just not going to be there like it was in cod 4 but wen they make it like cod 4 is when ill be happy enough to pee my pants XD
