    Comet Lovejoy

Has anyone seen this? Is it worth getting up at 3am to see it?

Yeah, I'm thinking I might have an early morning call, too.

If its that bad I've only lost an hours sleep.
It's a pity we can't see the head of the comet but it should be a relatively impressive tail with what it's been through.

Did any PSB'ers capture this? I was up from 2:45am this morning, got myself a nice unobstructed view of the south-eastern horizon and did not see her all through the sunrise phase. Think I found out about it too late, would have loved to capture a few nice photos.

I'm going to try tonight - but I thought it would have been visible to the naked eye. Disappointing if it isn't.

    Should be.
The Watchers - Comet Lovejoy now visible with naked eye

I'll go and have a look tonight/tomorrow morning, hopefully I can view it over the gulf.

I did some image Googling and the latest pics I could find were from a girl in QLD on a space forum. They were taken early this morning from what I can tell - but Lovejoy is quite faint in them.

got this one out near Goomalling, First attempt at time lapse. 30 sec exposures at 1 min intervals. Would have liked to have got the sky lightling around it but my camera ran out of battery =( I have a few other photos too I'll see if I can resize it and post it up.

Could you see it when you were setting up, or did you know the direction?

took these 2 nights before (Christmas eve night) and just set up the camera to take 30 or so shots in a SE direction and just caught it. So when I took the time lapse (2 nights later) I just took a bearing from where I was before, adjusted a little further South, set up the tripod and timer and went to bed.

First one was taken 3:44am 25/12 and I told my daughter I caught Santa on his Australian run.

True, but if science had the funds religion has enjoyed for eons we might have better explanations by now, or at least hover shoes.
