Is any one else out there have a few clumps of hair missing?

My first exam was today and although I was confident b4 - scared now
On the up side alot of people came out looking like they were going to cry. At least it was the hardest and now the rest are cruisey.

Are there other out there that might be interested in some drinks at the tav next week to drink all our knowledge away and get to know some other bikers at uni?

My first is tomorrow - At murdoch.
    Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development.

Then I've got Instrumental Analysis and Biomolecular Design on Tues/Thurs next week.

Try very hard not to stress out, and make sure I'm totally rested up before my exams. I find that an extra hour of sleep is worth more than an extra hour of cramming the night before.

Exams scare me ... One day I might give them a go.
Some say he eats sidchrome for breakfast

Some say he only showers on even days of the week

Some say he put an R1 motor in a coffee machine

All we know is he's Hewie.

yeah my first one is tomorrow. chemistry 102 at curtin. 6:45pm...
last one is on monday (thermodynamics *gulp*)
deffo up for a beer say on tuesday (monday exam finishes at 9pm-ish)
My biggest problem is studying continuously. I really should go to the library and study, but sometimes you need webct and then psb is really good distraction....

My last one is monday too (funnily enough chem) - maths down deeds, physics, and chem to go.

So I will be at the tav Tuesday. I hate waiting a month to get results - so god damn long.

    Unhappy

i just had the worst exam ever today.
i now know what it feels like to be analy raped by an exam paper...dry.
if i'm lucky i might get 15% in the exam. fucking thermofluds 429 POS
at least a few others had the same problems as me so i might get lucky. but unlikely.

and to top it off, for my exam tomorrow (same as duffman's), i only just started studying for, and every assignment and lab for that unit i just copied off ther ppl. hence i know nothing. gunna do the old learn the unit in the exam thing, like i do for most of my open book exams. (not guaranteed to give good marks tho!)

no shit about the drinking thing. i seem to have this ability to drink my self to the point of alcohol poisoning each semester after exams.
no wonder i never remember shit i was supposed to have done in units b4.

just checked at my last exam is actually monday morning, not night.
originally we had 4 exams in three days, but luckily they moved one of them

know how you feel alex.....nothing quite like thinking the day before the exam "so, what exactly are we meant to know in this unit?"

anyone here have any study techniques?
I have found that since I have started listening to classical music and the like while I study, I've been much more productive. except this semester. lol

Dont bother crammin its a waste of time .. study till the night before .. have a good nights sleep then dont look at ur books before the exam .. I have always found that crammin just confuses the issue ....

Just run over the salient points in your head .. sometimes I write them down jsut to clarify them or to make sure I can put everything in the right place ..

I memorise specific terms and phrases that allow me to remember the surrrounding information. I visualise pages and their contents as opposed to trying to memorise the actual content, charts and diagrams are good uses for this.

Try and relax .. hard I know ...

Dont listen to anything while your studying .. put your full concentration into your study then have a break and listen to stuff.

And only study for 40 minutes at a time. .. then have 20 minutes off to let your brain cool down and then go back to it.

To quantify the above statements dispite what I said above ... I have actually sat over 300 exams in my life of study. 200 + of them in the "adult education arena" and I have never failed one.

These may or may not work for everyone .. These are just the techniques that work for me.

    Good Luck Everyone.

Work hard on the assignments. A lot of the time the same stuff appears in the exam. I found putting the effort into assignments really pays off at the end of the semester.

Do a couple of test exams. I found study groups useful when doing these (bouncing ideas off each other, esp for units requiring essays etc).

Make really good notes throughout the semester. I didn't 'cram' before exams, but I did make sure to go over important points and concepts a few hours before the exam. Hewie hit it on the head really - however cramming does work for some people.

Be calm when doing the exam. You don't score points for finishing early. Keep track of time as well, I always used to split up the exam into parts based on the marks for each q.

For open book exams, write test exam answers in the book. I seem to remember a particular C unit where the exam was verbatim to the test exam.

These worked for me... won't work for all of course. They did help get my average over 90% though.

Yeah past exams work for me - I find they put in mixture of past exam q's, text book q's and past assignment q's. If you can take in notes put down as many examples as poss (writting very small helps).

Now all this needs to be added to regular study - so you know how to modify new questions from old - and the secret ingredient - gum. Well it helps me.
