Octoberfest is limited to 1600 people, I think is is a regulation put in place by liquor & gaming. I know the guild were fighting them this year just to let Curtin people bring guests at all.

the dealio is that every guild member is allowed a guest. so tickets go in lots of 2. technically only 4 tickets should have been sold each transaction (2 guild cards per transaction).

tickets dont reach non guild member sales because of the demand. the idea is that guild members get a week head start before the non guild members. we are here to look after our members after all. being limited at 1600 means tickets go shit fast! this year has set a new record for timing.

Just curious - are bikes still allowed to park under the Engineering building? I've noticed there haven't been many bikes there and was thinking of stealing a spot there tomorrow...have people been ticketed for parking there? Or am I just looking at the wrong times?

technically there is a bike rack there so they can't really ping you for it

I just have a rant about security. It was raining, motorbike bays were full of scooters. I wanna be close to the engineering building so i park under the engineering building where the bicycles are and some cockhead security dude who obviously didnt get his blowjob last night tells me i cant park there cos its a fire hazard and the bike has petrol in it, he had real attitude about it. He then writes down my number plate and i ride away and just park under the rooms where the civil eng labs are. He cant do anything with my plate anyway its not on record anywhere in the uni. Iv done it for weeks and never been told anything or no note left on it. Either they need to make more bays or ban scooters.

It is common knowledge that you can't park just anywhere on campus. Park in the designated bays or not at all.

Sure, you may get away with it, but if they tell you not to do it... Then move.

Bike parking is free at Curtin, as opposed to paying for a car parking label which doesn't guarantee you a spot anyway.

Ban scooters? Dude, seriously... They are not just 'motorcycle' bays, they are bays for 2 wheeled vehicles.
Just because the scooter rider doesn't have as big an engine as you, does that give you the right to determine where he is allowed to park?
In that case, I believe Curtin should ban anything under 600cc capacity, because they are obviously not real bikes.

Finally, have you ever read the parking leaflet they send out each year? It mentions that no guarantee of bays is made.
Plus it is free for bikes, so STFU and go find somewhere else to park... It may not be in the area you like (314 fills up pretty fast, especially with summer coming) and so does the area outside the tav, but there are more bays around campus that are usually free.
