For anyone contemplating using Sensis directory service no 1234. keep this in mind.

Sensis as you may know is a subsidiary of Telsrta. The 1234 number is replacing the 12456 directory ass. number, but this time with outrageous charges applied:
    40c to call the number.
    Then 4c per SECOND.

By law Telstra have to supply a FREE directory assistance number, because they are majority owned by the government.
However they choose not to pass that number on to the public.

    What is that number?............1223

Thumbs up to Telstra for finding a way to charge for a service that is suppose to be free...

    use a phonebook or whitepages.com.au

I worked at that god awful place for a little while, there are a couple of us here that have worked there - as a rule the people are fucking rude and get their joy out of hanging up on people

I would rather sell my lungs than work at that fucking place again

You might want to watch comments like that on this fourm.

As for 1234 charging, it's been that way for years

Is that one of your old ones?
Found it somewhere out there in cyber...

My impression is that... on mobiles charges for using these services are added on top of whatever your call rate. say 15c per 30sec.+ flag-fall. So by the time you add these extra charges on your prob paying few dollars.

A company I used to work for requested us to refrain from using call connect. By the time you're connected you've paid about 4-5 dollars. Doing that say eight times a day for a month was bringing in some nasty extra charges on mobile bills.
