DIY Cold Air Intake for panel filters?

Ok, so, I got a K&N Panel Filter today for my 99VT commonwhore V6 ecotec, but obviously the filter is getting Cold air from the Stock CAI Route, What i'm wondering is, if i can somehow increase my air flow through the filter?

I've heard of people putting they're pod filters in different locations, towards the bottom of the engine bays and cutting custom holes in the bottoms of the bays in order to get more cold air to the pod, instead of it taking in excess heat from the engine.

Is there anything I can do, to my setup, to get more Airflow? Or is it not really worth the time and effort?

Got a pic of the setup?
I think there is an HSV CAI you can buy that will bolt straight on - just a longer inlet across the bonnet

We is not really car nuts, but there might be some creative minds for good suggestions.

HSV CAI is the same as what you already have, SS inductions do a good one, 5R racing or aunger do a cheap one. not really much point im afraid to say the stock one is as good as it gets, you'll spend $500+ and not get any better, i sell these at work and can get you one if you want, but i wouldnt waste my money, i have a vt with a K&N pannel and i've kept the factory CAI
I know i cant spell, please don't feel the need to correct me

Yeah, honestly, I was just seeing if there was any cheap DIY things to do to it, I dont wanna spend more then say $100, but it looks like i'm going to just keep the stock CAI route.

Won't be much of an increase in performance with these will there? like, 5-10kw?

just remove the left headlight and use a funnel.

My Stato has the standard HSV over the top of the radiator CAI, it works fine for the 185kw motor, once you hit 300kw it would have an issue.

Not really worth it but another option is buy the CAI used on the supercharged 6. Might be able to get one cheap from a wreckers, otherwise think they're a few hundred from Holden.

There's F.I.T. in Perth who specialise in supercharged V6 mods and have some bolt ons for an ecotec if you want to google them. I was looking at some of their stuff for my old ute.

I have heard of guys drilling holes in their airbox but that's not going to get you much"cold" air.

I would be amazed if you got 5kw out of that.
PSB - It doesn't matter how right you are. If you aren't in with the crowd who thinks they are the in crowd because they post a lot, then you are wrong.

If you've already got the biggest factory cold air intake on your car then keep it at this. Your money is much better spent on a higher flowing filter (which you already have) and a decent set of headers and free-er flowing exhaust.

You'll be lucky to see a 2 or 3hp increease by trying to get even more cold air. And remember cold air is only ambient air. On a hot day it'll still be hot.

Save your money for the headers and maybe a 95/98 octane tune - these are areas where you will see a decent increase of 10 - 20kw per mod.
Yamaha MT-01: R1 front end, 1670cc V-twin, Staintune pipes, Power Commander, BMC filter, braided lines, Repsol orange rim stripes.

Get a second opinion, or maybe just some real news.
