I was at this on the bike.. boredom on a Saturday night struck.
I left early because the map was badly written, 2 minute drive from spot to spot with 40 minutes standing around - not my idea of fun but anyway.

It sucks that people got hurt but the whole car scene/particular club can't really be held responsible for an incident like this, yes this has fucked the car scenes rep as soon as it hits TT/ACA but we can't be hypocritical - we all do stupid shit and there's always the chance of it going wrong.

I'm not taking sides here, just saying it how I see it.

we need some public venues get the clubs to end their cruises there, nice concrete pads with barriers to keep the stupid ones from getting too close and lights so that even the muppets can get it out of their system, would be a good place to direct some of the speed camera revenue.

it was a common scene when i was growing up, the police turned a blind eye to a lot of it as long as they kept it contained to a carpark or similar, nobody died and very rarely would there even be an injury from a stone flicked up or cuts from changing tyres with steel hanging out.

These muppets aren't intelligent enough to regulate themselves, hence doing it in the middle of intersections.

Have only been on one car cruise... It's just not like the bikes.
Arive at the meet point, get looked down on by anyone that doesn't know you, circle jerk over the biggest rims/spoiler/etc... Then as we left... Nothing. Straight road for X km's... Turn .... Straight road for X km's... Repeat.

When we got to the end, the 12 ish cars (began with around 40) took 20 minutes to arrive. It was that spread out, you might as well have gone for a drive by yourself:

At the end of the day, some idiot ran into people because he lost control of his car as a result of driving like a dick. The people shouldn't have been there, think of the children, blah blah blah bullshit, the driver fucked up, plane and simple.

This car club has a pretty bad reputation for general fuck wit activity on their cruises (and i use that term loosly). Random Vandalism at stops, Underage drinking, fights (2 weeks ago one girl took a cricket bat to another girls car over a boy or summin) and crashes.
The organiseres actually specifcally set up places for burnouts after the cruise so something like this was bound to happen sooner or later. The club owner has already issued and online threat that he is going to "knock out" anyone who talks bad about his club or run them off the road. Despite the fact last time he was running his mouth he got knocked out.

The big issue here is now all car ethusiasts are going to cop it because of these tools, some clubs have been doing alot of work lately to get people off the road and organising frequent off street events to try change peoples opinions of those with modified cars.

TBH the WA car scene has gone to shit, police harrasment and heavy handed impound laws have driven alot of people away from it. Generally leaving 2 types of people those with heaps of money or dedication and take their car to off street events to push their car and own skill level and then the stupid young clowns who think a set of wheels, missing muffler and a car full of underage girls makes him king of the pack as they do burnouts in shopping centers and overtake at speed down the emergency lane.
Because these ones are the ones that the media and public see then it results in all car enthusiasts being tarred with the hoon brush.

I know the girl in the video you can hear barking orders. Trained in first aid from working with the bike racing clubs, she was first on scene to provide help.

Cops, and ambulances arrived, the person hit was taken to hospital.

It seems this driver was watching a camera, not were he was going.

There are some in certain circles however that continue to be tools, some are past their 3rd hoon-law, are responsible for some of those random acts of vandalism at stops and being a general tool. They did it 8 years ago, and they still do it now. Some people don't change, regardless of the law's put in place.

I can't view the video, since I can't remember my YouTube login, or why I would need one....but I get an idea from the comments posted. Mr Mike seems to have some inside info... and as Karen alluded, if you are willing to be party to some risky/illegal/whatever event, then make damn sure you are not in harm's way (like a drunk young lady who tried to sue for damages because a certain section of coastline was not fenced off), it just adds fuel to the "Nanny State" way of thinking.

...But it seems people continue to do stupid things without thought for the consequences to themselves or (worse) to others.... hence our laws get more restrictive and stupid as well.
