So, some hilarious little shit-bag has reported me to Facebook for having a fake name and they deleted my profile. No warning, no nothing.
5 years of stuff gone.
I've submitted an appeal, because while my name is shared by a movie character, it is my real name!
In the meantime it looks unlikely Facebook will respond - so my profile is gone.
Has anyone had any experience with this? Did you manage to get your profile re-instated?
Coincidentally just last night one of my friends was talking about how Facebook did something similar to their friend. They were banned, appealed, then had to jump through quite a number of hoops to prove they were indeed real. Took a little time though.
What a joke. Half of FB are fake names.

When a fake book profile was made for me by someone, they deleted it pretty quick, the only "verification" they had that it was me, was my gmail address and they deleted it in minutes.

The man's just lost a list of 500 friends he's never met! How the fuck else is he supposed to feel validated? huh?
About a week until they could get back on, then they had to satisfy an ID check by tagging themselves in friend's photos in order to gain full access.
It's all sorted! Facebook just returned my email, it took then just 7 hours - that's pretty damn good service. I was grumpy, but now I'm not.
